  • How to clean silver looking trim on Avalon?

On an '11 Toy Avalon the silver colored trim along the bottom of the doors, the grille and the wheels look like they haven't been washed since the spring; may be water marks etched into the metal or even some left over road salt from the winter although it looks like it's on the surface only. After washing the car with Meg's GC shampoo the marks remain, although not as noticeable. Don't know what to use on them. I have Meg's clay & several polishes including the maroon cleaner wax which is gentle. Think I should use the clay or just proceed with some gentle cleaner/polish? Thanks.

If it's plastic or textured trim like then APC and a brush should clean it right up. Then you can use a trim protectant on it.

Car shampoo does not clean the trim very well.

On that chrome plastic grille a compound or polish will work to remove water spots. Metal polishes can be to harsh. If the wheels are OEM then you can treat them just like paint.

I used Ultimate Polish on it & it worked well.
