  • Wetsanding scratch removal

    Hello there!

I have a few semi-deep scratches on my car and I decided to wetsand with 1400 grit sandpaper. I then thought I could just buy an aftermarket primer+matching paint ( as on my car's metal sticker ) rattle can + clearcoat can and improve things.
Unfortunately, the paint was not an exact match and I then used acetone-free nailpolish remover to remove the paint. The wetsand marks are still there.

I used Halfords' rubbing compound and then sprayed few coats of Clearcoat. This improved the scratch marks a lot but they are still there. I have then used Meguiars foam applicator pad and Ultimate compound by hand and have had no luck. So, I thought let's apply Meguiars carnuba wax and that didn't help either.

Here's how things look now :

Would appreciate any tips. It is also not financially viable to take it to a bodyshop and have both doors painted as I might as well sell the car.

    Re: Wetsanding scratch removal

You can do it with spray cans Take it to where ever you buy paint (dunno what its called in english). They have charts to give you the right paint. Then i would pant this area:

Removing that black plastic thingy, just to save some time and to cover up the paint edge. With the upper paint edge i would then go easy start off with maybe a 3000 sandpapper or something that aren't so harsh. Taking your time is the key factor here.

But yea, thats what i would have done Saves you alot of money instead of having the bodyshop do it. And if it dosent turn out good, well then leave it to bodyshop because then you at least tried, instead of giving up at start.

      Thanks for the reply.
I really don't want to repaint. This current state looks much beter compared to when I had painted. What I want to know is how to remove the scruff marks. Should I have used UC before spraying clearcoat ?

Assuming I buy a rotary buffer, what other products do I need to buy ?
