    Use and sto

    Hello,

My name is Paul Esveldt and I live in the Netherlands and I'm an owner of a Volvo 850 R Estate (red one).

I've a question about the clay. How often do you use the clay. I mean do you use it once, twice or more? (the same piece).

I've read some of you use it once on top and then on the wheels.

But isn't then a small piece you get. You should buy a whole bucket of it
When you use it on a regular base.

And final question how do you store it!
    In a bag?

    Thanks,

    Paul

      Hi Paul..........Welcome to MOL!

It depends on how dirty looking the clay gets. My clay is white when new, but it turns to a gray looking color when it's been used a few times. After it gets dirty looking, I might save it for the lower areas before throwing it away.

Clay will last longer if your car's finished is maintained by regular (Weekly) washings, and by using a quick detailer in between......That way, your clay has less contaminates to remove later on.

Some of the other members may not use a piece of clay but one time, and then throw it away.......I guess it's a question that has more than one answer.

I store mine in a small freezer bag.......Some store it in a plastic container, etc.

        truck back end

Just clayed the Avalanche last night. I found that the hood and the tailgate (man, especially the tailgate) tended to have MOST of the contaminants. The sides seemed to have a little here and there but I spent a good 1/2 hour on both the hood and the tailgate each. Even my painted rear lights seemed to have a lot of stuff. It was weird since I previously used the clay and had greyish contamination. This time it was more like a brownish gold. Could it be pollen mostly?? Who knows. Now she's as smooth as a babies butt. Now I need to work on the scratches to make the beast flawless.
Yea, I'm a red hot beaner!!

I just detailed a 1996 Chrysler Concord recently, and when I clayed the top of the back bumper, the clay was a brownish/gold looking color.

It took me a little while to clay this area, as the car had never been clayed before.

Makes you feel good when you see all of this contamination removed.

I'll post a report when I get my film developed.
