just wondering how you guys use this??? do you just flatten out the clay and and spray it with the quick detailer and wipe it on the paint??? also how do you get the excess quick detailer off when you are done claying, and will claying remove some of the clearcoat??? sorry for all the dumb questions but, i am trying to figure out what to use on my paint.

    thanks for any info

    Here's what I do.

Cut the clay bar into thirds. Put the unused pieced into a baggie. Flatten the clay and spray some QD to a small area and a shot to the clay and begin . Extend the area as you finish and area and when you have a panel done wipe dry with a MF and buff dry. Use plenty of QD. Refold the clay and move on to the next panel. Repeat until the car is finished. Next move on to the glass and finally do your wheels. You are done so toss that piece of clay.

If (when) you drop a piece of clay throw it out and retrieve another of the pieces.

Your finish should feel as smooth as glass and is ready for polish or wax.

Might not hurt to hang on to the used clay and use it for the wheels next time.

I use newer clay at the top, and older clay at the bottom.

I seriously doubt that the clay will remove any clear coat.

          Meg's products work well together.

Your car will look great after using all of those products.

Clay the car after washing it, and before buffing it with DCPC.

Claying the finish 1st helps to allow the DCPC to work better.

Detailing clay will not remove your clear coat, (at least not at a level that will be noticeable or of concern), but it will remove wax sitting on top of the paint.

You use clay when you need to. By this we mean, after washing your car, run you clean hand over the surface to feel for how smooth it is, clean paint should feel smooth like brand new glass. If you feel little bumps on the surface, this is an indicator that you need to use detailing clay to remove what we call, above surface contaminants.

There is no rule for how often to clay your car, it's whenever you inspect your car's finish and find above surface contaminants. You could clay your car today, and potentially park it where paint overspray lands on the finish and bonds, and need to clay your car tomorrow, how often you have to clay your car all depends upon what's in the air where you park your car.

                Does that make sense?

Quick Clay System, followed by Deep Crystal Polish followed by a quality wax will result in a show car shine.

Mike I hate to be a pest, but I'm not clear on this.
In your post you state that:
"Quick Clay System, followed by Deep Crystal Polish followed by a quality wax will result in a show car shine."

Does this mean that after I clay the vehicle, I no longer need to use the Deep Crystal cleaner? So I can go straight to Polish and Wax?
                  Is this true?

No, I meant to include use the paint cleaner after claying the finish, my mistake, I'm feeling a little under the weather today.

Clay bars remove above surface contaminants, paint cleaner remove below surface contaminants and paint defects, one will not replace the other. Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner is a very gentle paint cleaner, if you have swirls or any other below surface defects you may want to substitute ScratchX in place of Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner.

The correct procedure to follow is this,

                    Wash
                    Clay
                    Clean
                    Polish
                    Protect

We always remove what's sitting on top of the surface below going after what's below the surface.

Clay first, then use a paint cleaner. The only exception is for extremely oxidized finishes where there is so much oxidized paint on the surface that it is more effective to remove the heavy oxidation before using the clay.

                            Hey jimbo,

To remove the bug guts, simple car soap and water should do the trick. If the splatters are somewhat baked-on, you can use Meguiar's Gold Class Bug and Tar Remover.

As for using the DC paint cleaner, though you do not have to, I would suggest doing the whole vehicle as this should insure that the richness of the paint matches from one area to the next. Then polish and top with 2 coats of NXT Tech Wax.

                              Agreed.

Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner can really bring out the best in your paint, so I would use it all over.
