I wanted to grab one for doing my wheels but it seems every one says not to use on painted wheels, whats the big deal? i wanted to ultimate compound my 2014 kia sorento lx rims i think they are painted aluminum alloy?

One reason we do not recommend our Hot Rims Wheel Polisher for painted wheels is that the foam on this product is made specific for un-coated polish-able metals. It has not been tested on painted wheels because the product was never intended for painted wheels. Secondly, this product is used with a rotary drill, and the rotary action with the cone design on a painted wheel is going to be quite aggressive & can create a lot of heat when used aggressively, which is dangerous. We would suggest to stay working by hand or DA on a painted wheel, and if you are going to use a rotary, it should be a pad designed for paint, and should be used with caution.Nick Winn
