  • Grit Guard lowering question

Recently I bought Megs Grit Guard together with black 3.5 gal bucket.
Grit guard sits on 2.5" inch height so I need about 1 gal of water just to cover grit guard and another 1.5 gal to wash my car (wash bucket).
In that case I also need more shampoo to use so I think to cut Grit Guard "legs" in which case it will be sitting on about 1" height - no more.
In that case I will need less water and less shampoo.
So, what are your thoughs about such?
Will performances of GG be affected - vortex and such, and is there any particular technical reason for 2.5" GG height.
I have to add that I am not in USA and all stuff I have to buy from overseas so every ml of shampoo is very expensive.

    Thanks

Try a different bucket? Take the grit guard to the store and make sure it fits correctly.

Megs black 3.5 gal bucket is not tapered so GG can sit on the bottom.
Obviously you did not understand me well - my intention is to cut "legs" of the GG so it can sit lower in the bucket and not on 2.5" height in which case I will need less water and less shampoo.

        Re: Grit Guard lowering question

i would use a 5 gallon bucket for the grit guards to rinse with and the 3.5 for the solution.
As long as your mitts, sponges or whatever are rinsed good you shouldn't have a problem in the solution bucket.

Obviously 2 grit guards with 2 buckets is more of a guarantee.

My solution bucket is clean when I dump it, whereas the rinse bucket is really dirty.
To answer your question........get a 5 gallon bucket and don't cut the grit guard

We would agree that cutting the legs would likely effect the performance. We would also agree with Spazzz's response that if you have one grit guard, and are using the two bucket method (one of diluted car wash, and one with rinse water) to use the grit guard in the rinse water bucket. Hopefully this solves your dilemma! Feel free to post further questions

Thanks to all for your replies. In any case consensus is not to cut Gtit Guard so I will follow such an advice.
