Just to clean unknown stains in small areas when #83 is too mild and would take for ever. I've used Medium and Heavy Cut Cleaner but it says for rotary use only. What would work better by hand?

Ultimate Compound.

UC is derived from M105. Same abrasive set found in M105. M105 is still more aggressive. UC is more user friendly than M105. Think of UC as the cousin or little brother to M105.

Nobody local had M105 in the 8oz bottle and with shipping from an online store it would have been almost as much as the $24 I paid for a 32oz that will last me for years. Tried it out on two small scuffed areas on a hood I was sure needed to be wet sanded. Cleaned them up perfectly. Nice product I should have picked up a long time ago. Looks like I could just top it with wax if I wanted to but planning to go over the whole car with M83. BTW, what's the difference between M83 and M205?

To answer your question about M83 and M205. M205 is an abrasive finishing polish which uses SMAT abrasives (non-diminishing abrasives). M83 is a cleaner polish that uses diminishing abrasives. SMAT is the newest technology between the two.

I usually use M83 with a yellow foam pad on the DA on a car I just got that has no major blemishes, then top with Ultimate wax. How would replacing that with M205 change the results?

SMAT abrasives do their work fast. No need to wait for the abrasives to breakdown like a DAT abrasive. If you have the time search around on how versatile M205 is. It's a great polish.
