  • need help with scratch x

My sister have black Honda with some scratches. That's the problem. The question is do I .
    1 WASH
    2 CLAY
    3 SCRATCH X (on scratches)
    4 IF NEEDED...COMPOUND OR POLISHING COMPOUND(If scratch x don't work)
    5 POLISH
    6 WAX
Would this line up been right to deal with scratches and get the car ready for the summer heat of geogia?Car have never been wax for clay or polish. An here is the question I get from her why my car don't look as dark as some of the other cars?

Tough to say what exactly to use on the car without doing a test spot and seeing the condition of the paint.

    Definitely clay for sure.

Here's what I would do. I am basing this on the use of a machine and Meguiar's new thin foam disks.

3 Test spot with UP or M205 using a polishing foam disk
4 Depending on the test spot you will have to determine whether it needs to be compounded with Ultimate Compound on a burgundy cutting disk
5 POLISH with a foam polishing disk if DA haze is seen. If not I would proceed with a polish on a black foam finishing disk
    6 WAX

The car doesn't look "as black" as other cars most likely because the paint is severely swirled and when the sunlight reflects off swirls and scratches, it reflects like a crystal, sharp, light colored points of light which take away the "blackness" of the paint. It does this with ALL dark colored cars, which is why after a good polishing to remove the scratches, the 1st thing the owner usually notices is the "new" deep color of the paint. It was always that deep color, but it was concealed by the light reflecting off the swirls.
