  • Please Help!

Hi all. I'm planning on detailing my car but I'm not completely sure about my technique or products to use. I've read multiple other threads but none are similar to my situation.

I will be using a meguiars polisher, although I'm not sure which since I'll be borrowing it. It looks similar to the new MT300.

So, I've purchased the meguiars orange car wash soap, mild clay bar(blue), ultimate compound, ultimate polish, and NXT 2.0 wax. I've also purchased red cutting pads, polishing pads, and finishing pads. My car was scratched by someone cleaning dust off with a wet rag but other than that the car's paint is good.
it's a 2015 mustang and I'm not sure if the red pad with ultimate compound is too aggressive. Would I be better off using ultimate polish with the red pad?

    Thank you

I apologize if I'm posting in the wrong section or doing something wrong, but I'm still trying to figure everything out

Start off with the Ultimate Polish on a polishing pad. If that doesn't work, try Ult Compound on a polishing pad, if that still doesn't work THEN go to Ult Compound on a cutting pad.

    Always remember LEAST aggressive first.

We would agree with this response. Remember that it is best not to cross contaminate your pads with different products, and that they should be cleaned before a different product is used on a pad.

Remember when operating a dual action polisher be conscious of your pad angle (keeping flat) , rotation, pressure, and arm speed, they can all translate to dramatic differences in results.
