  • Rock chip repair using the DA Power System?

I am going to fix multiple rock chip damages on my bonnet this summer and I'm wondering if you could share your thoughts on my steps.

    1. Wash and clay

    2. U-Compund with DA Power System(to even out the chip surface hopefully)

    3. Rubbing alcahol over chip

    4. Apply touch up paint with tooth pick

    5. Speed up drying time with heat gun (How much time and heat is needed?)

    6. Even out the paint(Hopefully)with U-Compound DA Power System

    7. Apply clear coat with tooth pick

    8. Speed up drying time with heat gun(How much time and heat is needed?)

    9. Even out the Clear coat with U-Compound and U-Polish using DA Power System

    10. Allow few days before applying protection.

I'm not sure if the Power System will work at all to even out the damage and paint but I got it and I want to make the repair look good, so please share your thoughts on my steps and change them if you want, I've never fixed a chip before.

    Thanks in advance.

I also have a question about this, and want to bump the thread since your question was not answered. Maybe someone will see this and be able to answer both of our questions. I was wondering if you buy this kit, and the compound pad and use clear plastic cleaner, can you use this to restore headlights? if it can restore headlights I will buy one since it will pay for its self quickly.

I have the DA Power System and it is a great tool. As good as it is, I don't think you will be able to smooth out the paint in the rock chips with it and UC. That is not what it was designed for. I fear that to get any blobs level you might were down the clear coat. Just me, but I would not try it.

As for restoring headlight, never tired it, but I think it would be a great tool for it. I hear even toothpaste will do the trick.
