  • M80 vs ultimate polish?

Just curious to know between m80 and ultimate polish which of the 2 would be a little more on the aggressive side. ive been using m80 for a long time with good results with the pc using a yellow softbuff 2.0 pad to remove swirls and brighten up the paint. i was debating on trying out the ultimate polish to compare and see how it would do using the same pad.

just wanna get some opinions on the comparison of the 2. thanks guys

My only concern would be the possibility of filling because M80 is a glaze with a diminishing abrasive. Ultimate polish is SMAT, same family as M205. Personally on newer clear coat paint jobs I would use Ultimate Polish. I only use M80 on old school dried out single stage paint jobs that need those nourishing oils that M80 provides.

+1, If you plan to work on modern clear coats - go with Ultimate Polish or M205 Ultra Finishing Polish. Both products use super micro abrasive technology (SMAT), M205 being slightly more aggressive and Ultimate Polish offering slightly more gloss from its polishing oils.

In a direct, heads up comparison, M80 will have more cut than Ultimate Polish. But as the other guys have stated, a more modern polish will likely yield a better overall finish on a modern clear coat paint system. M205 is really hard to beat in this regard - excellent cut when you need it, but it beautifully refines the finish giving greater clarity and gloss to the paint.

M205 and ultimate polish can be very versatile based on which pad you use.

If they are light swirls then you should be able to do this. A test spot will help tell you what you need though.
Get your process down on a test spot to the level of finish you are wanting. Then apply that same method to the whole car.
