  • White buildup on center caps

    Hello Everyone,

I just signed up to this forum and I'm hoping to find some answers.
I've had the same car wash guy for years. Recently I've been noticing a white buildup around my center caps.
It does not wash off. Can anyone please let me know what is going on.
Don't mind the purple color on the rotors, its reflecting something purple nearby.

Re: White buildup on center caps

Hello first of all welcome to the forum, I'm kind of new myself. Now it's hard to tell from the pics. But if the center cap is aluminum it's possible that a wheel cleaner has been used that wasn't safe on aluminum. You could ask what kind of cleaner is your guy using. Aluminum is very sensitive to harsh cleaners. Hope it helps or someone more experienced can chime in.

      Welcome to the forums!
If it doesn't have a clear coat it just needs to be polished again. The milky white color is typical for all non-coated metals since it is oxidizing from being exposed to the elements. So pick up some aluminum polish or let your car wash guy know that you would like the center caps to be polished up again.
