  • IPA Solution before Final Sealant/Wax

I normally go from using UC, then to UP, and then directly to ULW.

I am hearing more and more of people using a diluted IPA solution to clean off any lingering polishing oils from the UP. Do many of you do this? And would you recommend me doing this?

    Thanks all very much!

This should be a good article to read.

Miscible and Immiscible - Wax and Paint Sealant Bonding Sheldon explaining Quantum Physics to Penny on the Big Bang Theory Wax and Paint Sealant Bondi

If you are sticking with the same family of products, I would not worry too much about polishing oils and bonding.

It is a good way to check if the defects are being removed as you go. That is one advantage. UP tends to be on the oily side so it tends to fill in more than say M205.

Since I have ventured onto coatings and they require more surface prep and an IPA wipedown. I personally used CarPro Eraser with coatings. I have gotten into the habit of wiping my personal vehicles prior to an application of LSP.

Excellent article! I also agree with you wiping down your vehicle before LSP. Thanks Guz!!!

When chasing down swirls, I'll compound then use Eraser to remove product out of the swirls to find then with a Brinkmann. The label on Ulimate Polish says "Pre-wax Glaze" so I don't use Eraser after UP and before Ultimate Wax. Love the oils in UP.
