  • Opinions on Professional Paint Correction AND a glass coat with 22PLE (vs wax)

So, I've been looking into getting my black SUV professionally paint corrected, and it has been suggested that I also get a glass coating done after with a product called 22PLE. Supposedly this will keep your car glossy for up to 4-5 years, with no need to wax.

What are people's opinions on Glass Coatings (and specifically 22PLE if you can), and vs a regular wax schedule

I think coatings are great. I use them on and have used them on my and my families personal vehicles. I haven't used 22ple but I hear good things about it.

Coatings take more work up front in terms of surface preparation. But the maintenance is less in the long run. They are not impervious to scratches or swirls so those will still happen. But the swirls will be in the coating and not the paint.

No experience with 22ple coating, but I do have experience with CQuartz, which is similar.

As Guz stated, they make maintenance pretty easy. The cars I have coated vs the ones with just a sealant stay much cleaner and you won't have to reapply for a longer period of time.

As far as lasting 4-5 years, that doesn't sound correct. Looking at 22PLE's product pages they state up to 24 months. Which is right about in line with most coatings on the market.

+1 coatings are great. I personally don't use them on my own car because I enjoy waxing my car. But I applied to my girlfriends car about 20 months ago and it still beads water like crazy. I haven't used 22ple I used cquartz uk buy the reviews on 22ple seem great. BTW I thing there is a coating from 22ple that has a 4-5 year durability claim.

            Where are you in Canada?
Maybe I can point you in a good direction for a local pro correction and a coating.
