I have a new 2016 Ram 2500 Cummins Diesel truck that I am waxing for the first time. The truck was built in late August and I bought it in October so it is only three months out of the factory. After a little consulting with my son, posting here, and some trials, I got the job done.
I clayed the truck, polished with Ultimate Liquid Polish using a dual action polisher, and then waxed it with Ultimate Liquid Wax. Even though this is a brand new truck with no damage to the paint, I discovered that the polishing step with a DA polisher was definitely of benefit to creating more gloss. Thanks to Nicholas Winn for his recommendation to do that. On a vehicle this size that means a lot of work but it was worth it. Here is the proof:
