  • Blue Jeans wear on Leather

Hey gang, looking for some help here. I have some of what I believe to be my jeans. I have tried APC, D180 Leather Cleaner and Conditioner. Not sure what else to try here. Only thing I haven't tried yet is APC at a stronger dilution but it doesn't seem to be lightening up at all. I do get dirt transfer onto my microfiber but the color does not appear to be coming off. I have only owned the truck for about 4 months and have mainly worn kaihki shorts until it has recently turned colder and now wearing jeans. Its a 2010 F150 if that makes any difference. Leather is in decent condition other than this. Thanks for any help!!

I've used LeatherMasters Strong Leather Cleaner or their Ink Lifter on stubborn stains like this. To prevent future staining I use a protectant. Meguiar's makes one I believe but I haven't yet tried it, as does Leather Masters and some others. Stains like this are dye transfer from your denim into the top coat of your leather. The longer it resides the deeper it penetrates so I'd get at it quickly to try to remove it. IME, stains like this can be very difficult, sometimes impossible, to completely remove. Prevention is key.

^^ Agreed. Leather Masters has a cleaner specifically for jeans.

Have you tried a brush with APC to get into those areas rather than just a microfiber?

When I 1st saw the picture I thought to myself, "dude, who wears their pants that high"?
Then I realized the picture is upside down. Lol.

...wait, that's the drivers seat. That picture's not upside down is it? How do you end up with jean dye transfer from your own jeans on the backrest?? Lmao.

You say up until recently you've always worn khakis to work eh? You're not "Jake" from Statefarm, are you? Haha

Ok all jokes aside, have you tried your steamer? If the steamer w/APC won't work, try Soft Scrub bathroom cleaner [regular lemon scent, Do Not use the 1 with bleach] w/soft nylon brush. A toothbrush might do you fine if you don't already have an interior nylon brush.

Looks normal to me. Sure looks better than having cheek stains like from those who wear their jeans so low you can see the backs of their thighs.

After you get the blue Jeans stain off, I have used this product with success http://www.collinite.com/assets/Uplo...Tech855pdf.pdf

I've had success with Lexol's cleaner, and as another person above mentioned, with a brush to agitate the stain. Works for me. So perhaps try APC with a brush try and lift the stain.

Thanks for this insight. That makes sense. Will consider this product and try to get rid of it and prevent it. My other car had it slightly but not to this degree. I wasn't able to get rid of it their either but it was a darker camel color and the seat was in worse shape so it didn't bother me as much.

No, I haven't tried a brush yet. I need to see if I have a brush soft enough to try it. APC works so well on everything.

LOL, you get your own reply. Yeah, it is just the lower back of the seat and some of the side of the pan as I getting in and out.

So I got this new to me used truck this summer, in July so all I have worn is my shorts (khakis) up until now where the temps are getting colder here in the middle part of the country. So, back to jeans And then after about I don't know, maybe a month, I start to notice this, so I get out the leather cleaner to clean it up. I had already done all of the seats once since I bought it, and it wouldn't budge. So I grabbed the APC and still nothing. No, I have not actually got my steamer yet for just this, but I may try that. Was just hoping there was a product I could grab that would easily clean it off, but like jefelbab said, the die from the jeans makes sense.

Love the Jake joke, lol. She sounds hideous. lol

LOL, won't find any kind of jeans like that in this household, from my wife and especially not from me. Don't want to see any of that for sure.

Thank you, I will check that out also. Use Collinite for the outside. didn't know they had any interior products.

Thanks, will add that to my list too. Have seen it in the store before and heard it is good stuff.

We would also agree as some other users have stated that our next recommendation if a microfiber towel is not working, a very soft bristled brush to help agitate will make quite a bit of difference in cleaning ability. Meguiar's G18516 Gold Class Leather & Vinyl Cleaner & Meguiar's D181 Detailer Leather Cleaner are both designed specific for leather, and D101 All Purpose Cleaner diluted at 10:1 is also approved for use on leather.

                            Lol Exploreco. You're great man

Btw don't waste your few bucks on the Lexol as it's among the mildest of cleaners availiable. Not knocking it, but it's not known for it's stain removing powers.

Good Morning Nick! 1st one to the office today? Right on.
