  • Ughhhhhhh Is this ussual?

I have a recently painted part on my car; a larger Mustang GT500 spoiler. Because of that, I didn't want to use Wash and Wax on the car while the piece is curing. So I pulled out an almost new bottle of Deep Crystal to wash my car with (this is my second time using it). I got as far as the roof with this stuff and decided not to use it. It didn't feel like there was any lubrication between my clean wash mitt and the paint on the car. When I rinsed off the suds, the water didn't bead up on the roof like it was beading on the rest of the car.

I thought Deep Crystal was neutral and wouldn't strip wax. I dumped out the bucket and washed the whole car minus the spoiler with Wash and Wax, which felt much better and gave me water beading.

    Today's wash!

IMO Deep crystal car wash soap is meh at best in my book. The suds aren't the greatest. For a consumer soap I like gold class.
    What dilution were you using?

Generally I don't like wash and wax type soaps. I prefer using a spray wax while I am drying if I want a booster.

A lot of soaps I have used it doesn't look like the water beads after washing the car but it is still sheeting like crazy. It doesn't necessarily mean the protection is gone because it isn't beading.

Deep crystal is thin in consistency. I agree with what was stated up above. What dilution ratio did you use? I am fairly certain it is 1 ounce per gallon. I highly doubt that your wax was stripped. This soap doesn't have that capability.

You are seeing beading with wash & wax because of the wax that is in the soap. I'm like Das and don't like to use a soap with wax in it. My personal preference is hyperwash from the detailer line.

This is exactly what I was getting at with my post

Still haven't tried hyperwash, but another option for OP would be Shampoo Plus from the Detailer line or Kevin Brown's favorite M00 Hi-Tech Wash from the Mirror Glaze line.

I usually see beading after washing. I had recently waxed the car, on September 6th, with Black Wax, and have only washed the car once since then, October 23rd, and it was out for about 2 hours in the rain on November 1st. The car is garage kept and seldom driven; maybe four or five times since the wax on September 6th. I used the ratio of soap to water as prescribed on the bottle; four caps. It looked to sud up kind of nicely. It just felt like there was a lot of friction between the wash mitt (again, the wash mitt was very clean and visually inspected for debris before use) and the paint.

I've had a lot of luck with the Wash and Wax for maintaining the shine on the car. I always blow dry the car and then touch up any water run areas with Quick Detailer and Quick Wax the next day. When using the Wash and wax, you it feels like there is a lot of lubrication from the soap as you go over the body panels.

How is the Gold Class car wash? I try to stick to products I can readily source from local retailers, and the Gold Class stuff is on the shelf.

I'm not sure how long black wax lasts, as I don't have any experience with it, but depending, the black wax could have been gone by then and only the wax from the wash and wax was left behind. Washing with something without wax in it could have removed what the wax and wax left on the paint. But I am just spit balling here. I know I don't get more than a month out of a traditional wax on my cars, but they sit outside.

Gold Class is a nice car wash. Good lubricity, suds up well. Has some paint conditioners in it, but no wax.
I would say it is very similar to Shampoo Plus.

Just a heads up you can order in some of the Detailer line and Mirror Glaze line products to Walmart and most Autoparts stores for local pickup.

So you used only 4 capfuls? 4 caps is only 1 ounce. How many gallons of water did you use? Here's a tip. Mark your bucket on the side with a marking point of where to fill with water. I have my buckets marked at 2 gallons and fill them with water. Then I pour the proper amount of soap into it and mix it with my hand. Then blast a stream of water in the bucket. I end up with about 3 -3.5 gallons of water in the bucket. I'm a little OCD so I measure everything to the T.

It's not going to have as much lubricity as gold class or wash & wax. This is the entry level soap to get people to use a dedicated car wash soap rather than dish soap.

It is possible that black wax needs to be reapplied. It's not going to last as long as a dedicated sealant.

I put about a gallon of water in the bucket; by the eye, not by measurement. I think once the weather gets nicer, I'll do a clay, polish wax with more of a sealer wax. I think I'm done with Deep Crystal; I'll maybe try that Gold Class though.

                  Use it as wheel soap.

Ha! That's exactly what I plan on doing with the rest of it!
