Too thin clearcoat after polish with 205?

Hello from newbie and sorry if this question is already posted. it is important for me

I have bmw e93 mineral white 2010', and I have polished it 5 times in 2.5 years with Meg 205 + Meguiars finishing pad W9207 and it was polished 2 or 3 times in BMW before i bought it by the ex owner.

I was polishing it each time 4-5 passes between 1100 and 1500 rpm with only machine pressure and just to hold the machine. Now i have fear(dont know why) that my clearcoat is too thin especially on plastic bumpers.

PTG before last polish says :

Hood was between 120-160
Rear trunk between 126 and 150
Roof 118-140
Rear end between 100-130-140
Doors i think 99-120

Bumpers are made of plastic just as front fenders so i cant measure them.

Rezime, can i damage my clearcoat with this combo and since i use too much polish on pad.

Any form of polishing/compounding is removing clear coat.

So yes in theory you can over do it. 100 or less and you are into v thin paint, which could equal a repaint :-(. 120 plus and no issues.

I would suggest inproving your washing methods. 1 detail per year should be enough.

I would agree, no need for polishing it every other month or so. since clear coat is so slim, you should switch to DA on slow with little polish and spray water with nothing but water. this method is used by professionals not to remove paint but to enhance the look of the paint, its called water polishing. you can look it up on you tube which they have lots of good tips, there is good one by Channel called AMMO NYC. and you don't need to polish it all the time if you are looking for a healthy clean shine on your car you can use wax applied by hand and removed by hand you can do this every week no damage on paint, hope this helped good luck.

I have used 205# and W9207 finishing pad cause i was hoping this combo cant remove so much or any micron of clearcoat, but i see now i was i in wrong

+ tiny swirls which were actually a reason to polish everytime, half of them are still there only the paint has good shine. Maybe i was not enought long polishing but thats better then damaged clearcoat.

I wish Mike would chime on here because I don't think you have much to worry about, 205 removes miniscule amounts of clear.

No, not necessarily.

Only if you do it multiple (like hundreds) of times. That combination removes negligable amounts of paint.
