  • Ultimate Polish over Liquid Wax?

Hi, crew. Question: I clayed a few months ago and I now have a great surface (2014 truck). Since claying, I have been maintaining my truck with ULW and UQW. Today I bought some Ultimate Polish. I'd like to work it into the rotation. My most recent ULW application was about three weeks ago. Still looks great, but I'm anxious to try the polish. Can I go ahead and apply the polish now (over the ULW) and follow with ULW again? Or do I need to strip it all down before polishing and waxing again?

You can apply polish and follow up with UW afterwards as the polish will remove what's currently on the surface.

    Clay if needed.

If one were to top the ULW with GC Carnauba Plus, can you go back to ULW a month or two later? Or will the GCCP prohibit adherence of the ULW?

You could but if you are going to just add another layer of UW, why not just use ultimate quik wax instead as a maintenance product and booster to UW.

I clayed today and was surprised at how few contaminants were sticking to the surface.

My employer is located in a complex that sprays lacquer on the exterior wood every fall.

Luckily I was on vacation this year.

Yeah that's what I'm currently doing- maintaining ULW with ultimate spray. I just thought it'd be fun to get some carnauba plus on as long as I have some left. I like the look and Might as well use it up. But when I go back to ULW Im afraid it might not adhere if there is any carnauba left on the surface. And I don't want to have to strip/clay it again.

You can also top with GC and maintain with UQW.

If you layered carnauba (GC, M26) on top of ULW, is a synthetic (UQW) or carnauba based quick wax meant to be appropriate?

                    Personal preference.

If you want a bit more durability, then UQW. If you prefer the look of GCQW (assuming you can tell the difference), then use that.

Thanks for the posts, guys. I decided to skip the carnauba plus and just maintain the ULW with UQW. On another note, I clayed first and then used ultimate polish by hand. Finished with two coats of ULW. To be honest, I don't think that the polish did much at all. I don't notice any difference from any of the other times I've used ULW without the polish. Hand app prob wasn't enough to make a difference.

                        Yep, probably.

                        What color is it?

Realistically you won't get much correcting ability out of UP by hand.

This all depends on the condition of the paint as well.

You'll probably see even less results on a color like gold or silver that hides things anyways.
