  • Scratched my car recently

Long story short, I was backing out and avoided something on my driver side and ended up scratching my rear bumper on my passenger side instead... I was hoping that I could fix this using ultimate compound and wanted to get the forum's opinion on this. Any help would be appreciated.

You may be close a record for the most time passing between signing up on MOL and making your first post!! And, unfortunately, your image did not come through. From your description, though, it sounds like you've got the dreaded scrape marks from turning the wheel too soon and brushing up against an immovable object. If so you'll likely got some paint transfer that makes things look much worse than they are, and Ultimate Compound can do a great job fixing that. The real problem is what's under the paint transfer; sometimes just removing that transfer seems to fix things quite well, but sometimes you've got deep gouges in your paint that only become visible once the transfer has been removed. Those can be almost impossible to remove. Worse yet, sometimes you scrape so hard that you gouge all the way down to the black urethane substrate, and in that case only a repaint will fix things.

So, give the UC a go (by hand you'll going to be putting some serious effort into this) and see how things look once the transfer has been removed and report back, please.

HAHA I've always been browsing and found everything I needed until now. There is definitely three scratches that were too deep to be fixable without touch up paint/repainting but everything was gone! I'm debating if I should attempt a touch up, repaint or just chalk it up to normal wear and tear.
