  • D114

    Hello,

    i have a question regarding D114.

I have a coating on my car. (Kancoat Chroma FX which is like Gtechniq Exo) and would like to wash my car in winter waterless or rineseless.

As it gets very dirty and salty i would like to know if it is save to do this?

Normally i wash with 2Buckets, but in winter below 2

I use D114 on my dad's car that is coated. It is safe and works well on coated vehicles.

      First off, welcome to MOL!!

Second, it appears your message was truncated and part of it lost. If you started composing your message in MS Word and then copied and pasted here, the forum software can't handle special characters very well (even though it claims to the contrary!).

Third, if you're essentially asking about using D114 in cold weather to wash your car that has a coating on it then by all means, go for it!! D114 and the whole concept of rinseless and/or waterless washing is great whether your car is coated or not. If the car is really dirty and salty then having some D114 in the bucket as well as in a spray bottle is really the best way to go. You can essentially "pre treat" an area by spraying with a D114 solution first, then using a folded towel from the bucket for the actual cleaning. Remember, though, that you never want to re-introduce that contaminated towel back into the wash water!!

          Re: D114

My main use for D114 would be after skiing on the weekend to wash my car after the trip, as the streets are dirty from the snow that melts.

Usually i went to a jetwash, but when it is cold it is very annoing to wash the car there and get it dry.

So you say it should not be a problem to wash a car that has some winter dirt and salt on it with D114 and Towels (You mean the Garry Dean Methode - folding the towels or?) - I would spray a panel with a d114 mix and then use the towel to clean/dry it.

            Re: D114

If you are knocking off road salt and that nastiness I would stop by a coin-op spray wash and just hit it with the high pressure rinse before you use D114.

This just knocks off the bigger stuff that could cause scratches and helps make doing the rinseless wash a bit easier.

The Gary Dean Method is the recommended method of use and IMO the easiest. I like to pre-treat panels with some D114 from a spray bottle as well when it is really dirty. Just some extra safety.

Normally i do it with a pressure washer, but it is not too much that comes of with a pressure washer, even with a pre wash there is lot of dirt sitting on the panels when i look at my washmitt.

It won't get the panel clean, but it knocks off any larger loose dirt.

                  Exactly!!

We've seen many discussions on FB groups with guys showing pictures and videos of this exact process, on black cars covered in road salt, and it works beautifully.
