Re: New black truck need help detailing

He's not talking about a drill activated polisher. It's a normal DA similar to a Porter Cable but this 1 has a bit more power to it.

There's 2 mods but they certainly Dont Have to be made.. 1 of them is opening it up and replacing the grease with higher quality grease in order to make it run quieter and some say it also runs a bit smoother after doing that.

The 2nd mod is opening it up in order to carefully stretch and move the on/off switch to the side of the machine instead of on top.

As you can probably tell by now those aren't that big of a deal. I've had 1 of those polishers for over a year and I haven't bothered trying to open my DA and mod it because it works just fine the way it is.

The only must do is to get a different backing plate because the 1 it comes with is too large for any of the pads you'll end up purchasing for it. The standard 5" Megs DA Backing Plate is perfect. Then decide on your pads.

The other must do is to find the 20% off coupon, print it, and use it

The tool still performs better with the mods. At least get a better backing plate for it.

I would be hesitant to recommend the MT300 after the issue I had with it.
ya we have a harbor freight down here. what type of mods would have to be made?

I checked my emails for a $54 coupon I saw last week to forward you but it looks like I deleted it. They do the coupon price about every six weeks or so. You can sign up to get them or maybe somebody else still has one in their inbox.

I'd put that money towards a DA instead of the DAPS. The truck just has too much surface area.

    Try it by hand.

I'm with Guz on this. Personally I think anyone trying to fix black by hand is a very ambitious person. My boney fingers would probably fall off lol.

By hand...I'd recommend Ultimate Polish. It's just more 'hand friendly'. Same as for using Ult Compound (if needed).
