    Mr. Stoops,

How do you feel about brushes like boar's hair brushes?

I can't justify the price of them an I can't wrap my head around using them on paint, especially blacks. They sure would be handy at times and it seems like they might release dirt in the rinse bucket perhaps better than anything will release dirt. Of course all heavy dirt should be blasted off with a strong stream of water. Wal-Mart is offering 2 types of micro-fiber bonnet mops with telescoping pole that would be handy on trucks and such.

I'm not Mr. Stoops, but ........

Boar hair brushes are the absolute BEST brushes I have ever used. I have a couple of brushes. One has lasted me more than 2 years now and the other is fairly new. The cost is totally justified.

What about scratching / swirls? Have you noticed any?

      What color car?

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

        No. Any color.
The only way you're going to cause damage to the exterior finish while using these brushes ..... is if they aren't clean before you use them. Are you referring to using these for cleaning RV/boats etc?
I mainly use these brushes (short hand brushes) for bug removal/tire wheel cleaning & RV/boat washing. Strong bristles that won't scratch when properly used.

Boar's hair brushes are among the softest and most gentle brushes you can use all over a vehicle. Yes, they tend to be pricey, but they are excellent for a wide variety of uses. TFTADetail seems to have a lot of experience with them as he apparently uses them regularly in his detailing business. But look at his primary uses for them - bug removal/tire wheel cleaning & RV/boat washing. They're also great for interior work, especially on leather. Are they the best choice on paint though? That's a tougher one to determine, and it's going to be a somewhat personal decision. Microfiber is just so incredibly good at pulling loose material away from the paint and hanging on to it until agitated for release. For reaching into grille work and the like a good boar's hair brush can be a huge time saver, but as a general purpose cleaning tool....... personally speaking I'd stick with either a good microfiber or high end natural lambs wool wash mitt. Of course, just like with the boar's hair brush, a really good lambs wool mitt is going to relatively expensive and require special maintenance of its own.
