  • Puddling on focus roof

At the time of this picture I literally waxed the whole car a couple of days prior to the storm and the rain just isn't running off of the roof of my '14 focus se sedan. -_- idk what I'm doing wrong. I waxed the whole thing, uw sat for about 16 minutes if I remember correctly to the dot. Did the swipe test and boom it puddles. No where else on the car does this. Am I doing something wrong. I ask because I just redid the car again and it still puddles. Do all '14 focuses do this? Maybe this isn't considered puddling and I'm over thinking idk.

    Thanx

We think you are overthinking this. The roof is likely the flattest part of the car - the most horizontal to the ground, as it were. You've got great beading, for sure, but for the water to actually move off a panel it needs help, either from wind (ie, the car is moving) or gravity (ie, the panel slopes quite a bit or is vertical). Gravity can not, will not, pull water sideways across a panel and then down off the side of the car. We are highly confident, however, that if you were to take a hose and use just light to moderate water pressure (no nozzle, we want a clean laminar flow of water) and run that over the roof you would sheet off the vast majority of these beads.
