  • #7 & Handi Applicator Pad

I busted out my #7, applied it to my hood using the handi applicator pad. My truck is black and silver, so i only have minimal black.

The mf pad was a real nice way to apply #7. I got a nice thin even layer.

Topped it with a caranuba, and man, i was staring into the hood for 5 minutes lol, it looks awesome.

M07 Show Car Glaze, it's been around for approximately 70+ years! There still isn't another pure polish on the market that can surpass the results achieved by #7 Show Car Glaze. Here is a stellar example of a glass bottle of Sealer & Reseal Glaze from sometime in the early 1950's or 1960's

Show Car Glaze is still available today and from what I've heard the formula has been unchanged since the 1930's! A testimony to the skill and craftsmanship of Malcolm Meguiar, son of Frank Meguiar Jr. and Barry's father.

congradulations jeffm -- now that you've mentioned it -- i have been patiently trying to strategize when and how to polish my nissan using #7 by hand -- i'm not sure which will give me the best results -- apply polish-buff off-apply wax -- or apply polish-apply wax-buff off -- and how long do i leave #7 polish on before buffing off -- i'd appreciate your knowledge on my issue jeffm -- or somebody -- HELP!!

You don't have to let a polish haze or set up like you would a wax. After you have worked it on over the finish you can remove.

I had no idea #7 was so old, and it is true, it has no equal.

I recently recieved a new machine glaze, and it works pretty well, and its really easy to use, but #7 kicks its butt.

Mike said its cool to put it over my sealants and waxes, so i started on one side, when i was done, i went back and began removing it.

Again working from left to right on the hood i made some wipes with a clean MF when i reached the end, i started over.

It is well worth the effort, staring into my hood i start to feel sucked into it

I like to goto a well lit up strip mall when im finished, at night, to see all the lights dance on the surface, its my favorite look, if only i could find my camera....

Sinse #7 was created before clear coats, does it have a better effect on SS paint?

And Mike, is that bottle one you have in your collection? Its still full

Does it say 2 bucks a pint?

Inflation hasnt had much effect, whats it cost today, $10?

I will just keep editng this post...

They used the word scum on the label lol.

And what in the world is a turkish cloth, do they still make it?

                Just to chime in,

Pure polishes like the M07 Show Car Glaze don't really dry because of their rich oil content, not only that, they don't need to dry as they are not a wax. (Only waxes in Meguiar's product line need to dry before removing).

For best results, only apply a Meguiar' pure polish to a new, like new or previously cleaned and polished finish.

Only apply a thin coat to the paint using a clean, soft applicator pad like either our Hi Tech Foam Applicator pads, or our Even Coat Applicator pads.

Work the polish in well, but also gently with with the human elements of care and passion, then remove it using a clean soft, plush microfiber polishing cloth or 100% cotton towel, either of these work great for removing pure polishes...

                Ultra Plush Super Terry
                Supreme Shine Microfiber

To insure easy removal, apply and remove a section at a time, or a panel at a time, which ever works best for you and the vehicle you're working on.

                Here's a tip...

Don't try to get it 100% all off with the first pass, just get most of it off, then continue on around the car. When you've applied and removed the polish to the entire car, go over the car one more time making your final wipe using a new, clean, soft polishing cloth, (like mentioned above), and polish the finish to a super high gloss. You'll remove any remaining polish at this step.

Here's a sample of some of the different bottles over the last 4-5 decades...

Note the clear plastic round or cylinder bottle as they're called. (Hard to find). I'm told the round bottles were used so that Professional could easily slip them into their apron pockets. Remember, Meguiar's didn't start offer product for consumers/enthusiasts until 1973, until that year, the entire focus for Meguiar's automotive division was geared toward the professional segment of the market, i.e. OEM and Refinish industries.

Note the third bottle from the left is also clear plastic. Further note the forth bottle from the left, the label cites the original name.
