  • How to remove paint transfer from black plastic on mirror

Hey gang, been awhile since I posted. I traded for a different daily driver. We were needing a more substantial vehicle to tow our camper with than what we had so I got this used 2010 Ford F150. I am in the process of cleaning it up. Or should I say, removing all of the greasy silicone dressing that the dealer has left everywhere, lol. OMG, that stuff is sprayed everywhere. Surprisingly enough, the paint doesn't appear to be in too bad of shape swirl wise, but it does have some scratches here and there so I am going to get the DA out and work on it. I am going to start with just ULP and the top it with UL. I will post some pictures when I get done. Previous owners where elderly so the back has very little usage and the seats are in great shape. Worse part about the truck is the aluminum wheels all have some winter salt etching, but other than that.

My question is, on one of the mirrors, the previous owner must have scraped something so there is what appears to be white paint transfer on that. What is the best way to go about trying to remove that from the black part. These are mirrors that are half painted half black plastic.

    Thanks

    Congrats on the new truck!

Since it's on the plastic mirror, spray some APC on it and rub it with a Magic Eraser.

thanks, will give that a try. Haven't had a car that doesn't have all painted mirrors in along time.

I think it'll work. I've been using those things for a bunch of stuff ever since being put onto them by Darren from Auto Fetish Detail.

I just got a bulk shipment of them in the mail yesterday

Just wanted to say that it worked like a charm and removed the paint easily. APC and the magic eraser. Thanks for the suggestion. It looks good now. I was actually surprised how well the mirror turned out overall. The previous owner didn't clean the bugs off too well and the paint was etched pretty good with bugs, but it worked it a while with UC the UP and it looks pretty close to perfect. Good enough for a 5 year old, 80k mile truck
