Hello everyone. I'm having some definite difficulty with the many year old glass water deposits on my 94 3000gt... I've tried UC on a microfiber and now Mothers Water Spot remover. Both did absolutely nothing. The glass all over the car I've cleaned with meguiars glass cleaner concentrate which works excellently, but there's water spots all over the car that nothing's even touched. What should I try? I want some perfectly clear glass! Thanks in advance.

Re: Can't remove years of hard water stains on glass
0000 steel wool with the Water Spot remover as lube. If the Mothers Water Spot remover doesn't cut it you might have to pair the steel wool with something a bit stonger and to the point. Something like a bathroom cleaner [Kaboom or something similar] made for removing hard water stains. Just be careful not to get any of the bathroom cleaner on your paint, as if you didn't already know that. Lol.
And only do it on the exterior glass, not on the inside.
If you have a leaf blower it'd be a good idea to have it handy in order to work clean and blow out any fine bits of steel wool off your car as you go along. It may take a couple of applications but it should work. Finish it off with Megs glass cleaner. Good luck.

Re: Can't remove years of hard water stains on glass
Glass is muuuuch harder than paint therefore it's difficult to remove any defects in it. Products containing cerium oxide, like CarPro Ceriglass, are the most effective, even capable of removing small scratches (I saved my neighbor car's windshield by removing scratches with Ceriglass/Lake Country glass cutting disc/rotary buffer combo). Cerium oxide is messy to work with and in connection with aggressive polishing creates a lot of heat quickly.

I would have tried doing it the same way as Larry prior to using steel wool.

It's all good.the car has a junk motor so there's bigger issues than glass... Lol. Ill see if its possible that it'll buff out as they say with a compound or something? My car has completely failed CC and many other issues for being a 21yo Mitsubushi product.
