I recently started the journey in removing my vinyl stripes. (which was a pain in itself) I figured the car should get a full detail afterwords to get everything back into sparkling condition. Because of the glue left over from the vinyl I wasn't having much luck with claybar after the wash, so I then went on to use Ultimate Compound. I started by hand/yellow applicator and saw close to zero results. (other than some glue residue picking up) I decided I had "hard" paint and applying UC by hand wasn't going to be practical.
I picked up the Meguiar's DA system that is a power drill attachment mostly for availability and price. I figured this would give me the extra pressure/speed I needed. I applied UC at max RPMS with a good amount of pressure (with the red pad) and saw some results, but not like the results I've been seeing throughout the site.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I figure it's not the product, but the user. (or maybe even the car) Is my paint too hard for UC/DA system for powerdrill? I ended up just putting some wax on her and calling it a day(s). I'm pretty frustrated and tired.
Detailing wins this one.
