In preparation for a car show this past Sunday, I woke up early and washed the car, dried it with the ELB, and then applied UQW with microfiber towels. At the car show I popped the hood and walked away. When I looked back at my car, I could see my hood was all kinds of splotchy looking as it caught the light. What gives!? It looked great in my driveway and when I initially parked the car. I couldn't see the problem until the light hit it the right way, and it looked horrible!!!

Re: Splotchy UQW
That or it just wasn't wiped completely. If you're referring to something representative of (shadows) then that might be the problem.
Also, not knowing what your wax maintenance routine is; it could be time to do more than a wash and QD to achieve the results you're looking for.The Finishing Touch Auto Detail, LLC | Portfolio | Reviews | Contact Us

Re: Splotchy UQW
I was having similar problems with UQW until I started applying it to the whole car, THEN taking a clean, DRY MF to buff off the residue-just like you would if doing a regular wax job and it doesn't take much longer (if any) than going panel by panel.
I agree that if this doesn't work, you probably need to rewax or repolish and wax the car again.Don

Re: Splotchy UQW
More than likely too much product was used and not buffed off. Did you spray right onto the paint or onto the towel? 2 towel method works best.

Re: Splotchy UQW
^^That is true if one is going to polish and recoat with a fresh coat of wax or sealant but not a spray wax. Since he just did that 17 days ago there is no need to clay. Either too much product was used or not all of it was removed. Temperature can play a factor with UQW as well.

Re: Splotchy UQW
Maybe too much was used then. Next time I was the car, I'll try applying it to the cloth and use another one to buff it off.
I've only clayed my car once, sometime last year. But since it only sees the road every other weekend for short stints, the paint is pretty smooth (minus the factory orange peel that is!).2014 Mustang GT 6-Speed Manual
