  • Any sealants OK to apply immediately after repaint?

I just had the rear quarter panel on my A4 repainted, and I know I can't wax for 30 days (or longer), but are they any sealant that are safe to use? I'd like to get some protection on the paint before the first bird targets my new paint, and I was wondering there was any kind of sealant that might be provide some protection but still let the solvents evaporate.

    Any guidance would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

I know that Meguiar's has several polishes (both abrasive and non abrasive) that are body shop (fresh paint) safe that you can use to maintain your paint until it's ready to wax and I believe they recently came out with a product that has a mild sealant and is also safe for fresh paint, I think I saw it in a recent post, but I can't remember where.

The new M305 comes to mind.

Perfect Clarity Headlight Restoration Kit, Soft Buff D/A Foam Discs & Backing Plates, New Rotary Pads & Backing Plates, New Car Scent Protectant, Dub Car Wash, Whole Car Air Refresher Odor Eliminators, MT300 Dual Action Polisher, Paint Protect, Ultimate Black Plastic Restorer, M317 Unigrit Sand & Clean, M305 Ultra Durable Finishing Glaze

Just wait the 30 days or whatever the painter recommended. Let the paint outgas and cure. No sense in rushing things.

          Bingo!

M305 is a body shop safe wax and as such can be applied to freshly applied paint.

As for your fear of a bird bomb attacking your fresh paint, just keep this in mind: since a bird bomb can actually etch paint, don't expect that a simple wax or sealant is going to stop that from happening. Paint is far stronger and more durable than any wax or sealant you'll ever find, and if a bird bomb can etch it, that coat of wax/sealant won't stop it. It may buy you some time, but it's not going to stop it. Carry a bottle of quick detailer and a microfiber towel in the trunk and put them to good use when/if such aerial assaults occur.

Not considered a sealant per se, but good to use on a single repainted panel, M80.
