I've had no issues with using D156 as a drying agent or working with a completely dry panel. Both methods have given me great results.

I found posts from both you and Michael Stoops almost contradicting each other. I don't meant to stir the pot, but this could confuse some people. But I have to say that in MY experience, you were right about UQW not being best used as a drying aid, although several people have had success doing it which means Mike Stoops was ALSO right. I think if I continue to use a drying aid, it will be UQD and I'll stick to using UQW on a clean, dry car.

Another way of stating that question so that everyone understands would be to say,

Can you use this on a wet car?

As in,

Can you spray this on a wet car and then wipe both it and the water off at the same time?

I have not seen the application directions for this product yet but in most cases applying a wax to a wet car is not the optimum way to use this type of product or to get best results. Best results will be achieved if you apply this product to a clean, dry finish.

Have any of you tried using UQW as part of your drying process?

Give the car a final rinse with a steady stream of water to sheet the majority of beaded water off the surface. As you go to dry each section, spray some UQW on the panel and then wipe dry with a Water Magnet. Continue around the vehicle as you dry - no streaking at all, just a bright crisp shine. Works beautifully!

Today I washed the car with Gold Class and dried without a drying aid. After that I used the Ultimate Quick Wax as it was meant to. I misted the UQW on the panel, spread it around with a mf, then flipped the mf and buffed off the residue. After a time, when the mf became dampened with UQW, I found that I didn't have to turn the mf to a dry side to wipe off any excess UQW (my mf towels get more absorbent as they get damp) and it turns out that I didn't need to buff off any excess, any excess UQW was absorbed by the towel as I spread it across the panels, and since the towel was nicely dampened by UQW, it made even application a breeze.

Now my car looks and feels freshly waxed, I will try to get some pics tonight or tomorrow. My faith in UQW has been restored.

That could well be the case.
Humidity can cause problems for high polymer load products.
Though I'm pretty sure I've used it in humid conditions before, with no ill effects.

I haven't been able to experiment over the last couple days ... weather and family responsibilities, hopefully I'll be able to do something today. I was also wondering would high humidity have anything to do with some of my issues? It has been crazy humid here the last several days.

I agree with guz and davey. Sounds like to much product already on there. I'm not sure how u apply ur wax but very thin layer is all u need. U can only put so much on. U prob know this already so forgive me if I'm wrong.

I thought about it a bit, and you guys might be right. I have been using the paste version of UW and I had a difficult time applying it with the PC, because it seems like I had to put a lot on the pad so when I made my passes to apply the wax, I could see a thin film of it being applied and I made sure I spread it around (one application to the pad = 2 panels or the entire hood). Either way, I used a lot of the wax quick and the can is nearly empty and I know I should have barely scraped the surface especially using a PC to apply it. I blame that on poor technique and an unfamiliarity with Ultimate Paste - I've never used a wax that has to be spread so THIN before (other than Zaino, but that's a different issue). It seems that Ultimate Paste is less forgiving when it comes to a THIN application-less is best and more is a PITA in many ways (application, removal and now it seems maintenance).

Well I have the Ultimate Liquid this time and it should be a LOT easier to control how much is applied (using a butter knife VS putting a few drops on the pad). I have a brand new finishing pad (I cut down another of my old pads again) and a bit more respect for the Ultimate Wax and how it needs to be applied. Today doesn't look good (but this is Ohio and the weather changes every few minutes-it went from partly sunny to a torrential downpour right after I Quik Waxed my car yesterday) so you never know.

I will be posting updates as I try this again from the beginning ... yes, I've decided to wash/polish/wax, a clean slate.

Uninformed people tend to think that they'll just wax their car every week and it gives them that much more protection. But we know that a second coat does nothing more than assure complete coverage.

I hope u figure this out as itis a perfect drying aid and booster inbetween waxings. Personally I like to wax monthly and then weekly wash with ultimate wash and wax soap followed by uqw and then at the beg of the month I strip it off with a clay followed by iron x decontamination. Then polish and then ultimate liquid wax.

What else have you used prior to UQW (ie other spray waxes)?

In order, I've used Ultimate Polish (1 application), Ultimate Paste Wax (2 applications) and Ultimate Quik Detailer (multiple applications, but as a drying aid) before using the Ultimate Quik Wax, nothing else.

In the morning, weather permitting and assuming I can escape the wife's clutches, I'll start with a good wash with no drying aid and then try the UQW. If that doesn't work, since the car is already washed, I'll try polishing the top surfaces (where the worst of the smearing/ghosting is) then try the UQW. If THAT works, should I go ahead and give the car a coat of ULW just to make sure I have a full protective layer?

Yeah, it sounds like it could be a build up of too much product and/or different products.

It might be worth an experiment to see if the UQW reacts to bare paint in the same way it does right now. (polish an area so there is nothing on it)

Based on your reply it could be too much UPW on the paint and is making things difficult for you.

You are the only one that I know of that has had issues using it as a drying aid. It sounds like you either have too much water on the surface and over applied it. When the weather is too cold UQW can streak. I've seen that happen.

I'm honestly starting to think it's my paint. This is not the first time it has clouded/streaked on me with an LSP. Gold Class Carnauba +, NXT 2.0, etc especially when hand applied & removed, but UPW didn't. I just now went over to my neighbor's house where he had just finished washing his truck (the same one I compounded and sealed) I sprayed the UQW on his hood - much heavier than I did on my car, but still just a light mist and it spread forever and buffed off flawlessly. The hood looked like I had just finished a 2-step on it again. I went back to my car and from about 3 feet away triggered a mist and let it float down onto the paint. After buffing the entire car this way, I then went to get a clean dry cloth and buffed the car again. The results were much better, but it's still cloudy and I need sunlight to see what the real results are. The paint is extremely slick and smooth and you can feel the UQW on the surface, now I just need to know if you can SEE the UQW, meaning the smears and clouding.
