  • NXT Tech wax

Put second coat of Tech wax on the civic this morning, let it dry for at least 30 minutes then gently wiped it off with several microfiber towels then pulled it outside in the sun to see what it looked like & I noticed there are what appears to be high & low spots to the shine. Did I do something wrong?

Well, hard to say. What is the condition of the paint on the car? And what other step did you use? Did you wash, clay, clean, and polish the paint beforehand? Any ohter info on what you did will help.

      Tech wax

2002 honda civic ( maroon color), paint is very nice, car has been well taken care of. here is how I started:

      Wash M deep crystal wash
      M clay with quick detalier
M # 83 with g-100 with poilshing pad to remove water spots
NXT tech liquid wax hand applied & hand removed with several microfiber cloths very gently
Car was in garage all night, quick detailer this morning with microfiber to remove any dust
      NXT liquid wax applied again

If the paint is uniform in quality, (and it should be), and you applied your product in a uniform manner, than the results should be uniform. Could be your point of view, perhaps lighting on panel angles.

I don't know what your climate is, but NXT Tech Wax usually only requires 10-15 minutes to completely dry. Read this how-to

How to tell when a Meguiar's wax is ready to remove - The Swipe Test

If you want to, or feel like it, you could re-apply a third coat, duplicating everything you've done previously, use the swipe test as your guide for when to remove, and then check your results.

Panels at different angles in the light will either show more or less shine, I don't actually think there is a physical problem here, just a perception difference.

          hi neighbor!
good to see some one so close in the forums! did you do any of this in the sun? I find that when I do my work I have to make sure the curtains are closed if the sun is on the right angle.
NXT doesn't like heat from the sun as a curing aid.

            No sun

Only thing done outside was the wash.

I have found that sometimes when Qding if the qd does not get totally wiped up or it doesnt evaporate entirely then it will leavea a halogram of the spray causing an inconsistency in the shine.

Thats's a very good point, I have found the same results..and a small amount of qd left unwiped or missed makes a big difference.
