daily driver-- developing a routine

okay...... what about those cars that are used and abused. Most people don't have the time to spend a day doing the works like wash, clay, 83, 80, NXT.

I am looking for a system for cars where the focus is on protecting the paint from eventual corrosion and rust, not aesthetics.

First step
1)wash
would washing once a month for a daily driver be ideal?
2)clay
should one clay a daily driver?
3) polish and wax
should one skip to both a polish and wax?
consumer cleaner/wax
gold class wax
professional cleaner/wax
quix detailer

Once a month would suffice.

2)clay - should one clay a daily driver?

Yes. Claying will clean the surface of above bonded contaminants and enable you wax to adhere to the paint.

3) polish and wax - should one skip to both a polish and wax?
consumer cleaner/wax
gold class wax
professional cleaner/wax
quix detailer

If the finish is neglected right now, then use Meguiar's ColorX, if the finish is in good to excellent shape right now us Meguiar's Cleaner/Wax in the Consumer Line.

Keep it simple. Wash with a quality car wash, wax with a cleaner/wax.

I'll just mention I enjoy using ColorX, topped with Nxt Wax. I do a 'full' detail every once in a while, but when time is short, that is a real nice and quick combo for a daily driver.
