If you're detailing someones car and the interior is trashed, whats the first thing you would spray just to get started? APC?

@TheDoc46. Yes, D114 @1:128 would work very similar to Quik Interior Detailer, without the overpowering scent.
I rec'd my gallon of D149 yesterday, and boy you weren't kidding about the overpowering scent. It's waaaaaaaay too much... I'm worried it'll overpower my new car smell, with that overpowering chemical smell it has. Besides which my interior isn't even dirty, in any way or form. So not sure i even chemicals to clean. Perhaps some very minor dust on the dash board, from its first 2k of mileage, that a soft damp MF will easily sort out. Thing is i am a bit gutted, I was looking forward to use it for its UV protection more than anything, as my car sits outside during the daytime, and i live in SW FL and that sun is intense.

The scent dissipates quickly from my experience.

For the plastic I use Pledge multi purpose and for the swirl on the lens I use Meguirs plastex. It works slow expecially by hand so be patient. Good luck

              @TheDoc46. Here's what you want.

I mainly use just that to maintain a brand new Kia here at the house. Smells great, like a new car should and provides UV protection. Plus it adds just enough shine to let you know it's there, which I like.

[here's a pic of the amount of shine it adds]

I usually go straight from vacuuming to the new car scent protectant, as it has the minor ability to clean. If more cleaning/prep is required I wring out 1 of my D114 rinseless towels and give a good wipedown 1st.. Great thing about the D114 towel is it leaves nothing behind, not even it's great scent.

New Car Scent Protectant keeps this baby looking, feeling, and smelling New!

New car scent protectant is nice but I'm going to disagree with you on the smell. It dissipates rather quickly as well. The look is nice.

Hmm.. Well you could be right as I'm not the 1 who drives the Kia. Plus it's only 6 months old so it still kinda still smells new on it's own. But I do know that it smells pretty amazing once I'm done wiping it down. I do it once a week.

If and when the natural new car smell finally begins to fade away I plan on dropping a New Car Air Refresher inside the Kia.
I tried 1 inside my Cadillac almost a month ago and I liked it.

As far as the Kia I cleaned the front mats with D102 today and followed the whole interior carpet with a nice coating of 303 Fabric Guard. That interior is Jamming!

It wont overpower at all, its subsides in no time. Especially if you cut it 1:1 with distilled water.

Also, apply a squirt or two TO THE TOWEL, outside the vehicle if you are worried about the smell....

THEN wipe down... you will be using less (so less product to impart odor) and the atomized over spray wont float into unwanted areas and linger.

That is the solution for the smell. I know some ppl find it strange, it has that sort of synthetic smell, but I like it and it works like a CHAMP!

Thanks all for the recommendations. I actually used a good bit of D149 in my wife's 2yr old Tiguan last night (which is the kid carrier and therefore gets a few fingerprints and marks here and there), and though the smell was pretty strong yesterday during the cleaning, its gone today. So happy about that. I may even be brave enough to use it on my car now... Though i do like the look of that 'new car scent' spray Eldorado. May give it a try also.

                      Thanks again.

I tried QID inside the Kia when I 1st got it and was told not to ever make that car smell like that ever again. Lol.

The stuff cleans great but it's hit & miss with the smell. Sort of like Elmers glue was in kindergarden.. I've been using it to clean the interior of my dads Tacoma thinking he's a blue collar type of guy so he's sure to like it right? Nope. Lol. He caught a whiff, cringed and said 'oh my goodness it smells like vinegar in here'! Lol.
I'm just happy I bought the consumer size and not a whole gallon of it. If and when I use it I make sure to leave the microfiber towel I used outside the house. Otherwise QID smell permeates the entire room and my cat threatens to runaway and never come back. Lmao.
.... But it does clean pretty good

FYI I heard on another forum that the scent has changed in the consumer version. Not sure if that is true but one guy has stated that the scent is more like vinegar that what it used to be. I have the gallon of it so it smells like it always has to me.

I tried Natural Shine and I really like it! Question is, does it cause things to stick from static? My dog went for a road trip with me and look at all the fur stuck to my dash!

I will try the QID--perhaps its smell will mask the smoke smell.

(I know, the random butt stuck in the car, plus smoke which adheres to clothes, makes for a challenging experience.)
