    Hello, greetings from Colombia and new using this forum, Which one is the best combination of a two stage process, i dont know if is the correct way to say it, im trying the M83 with the yellow foam pad, or the M83 with the cutting MF pad, it loos better with the MF pad, and finishing with the M26, are there any other combinations that i can work?

      Welcome to MOL.

      There are plenty of other combinations that can work. It all depends how your paint responds, what defects you are working on and what you are trying to achieve.

      That's why it's important to do a test spot with the least aggressive method and adjust accordingly, before repeating over the whole vehicle.

      What are you working on and what condition is the paint in? Are you trying to achieve a flawless finish, or just want to shine it up a bit? Do you have any other products on hand?

        Because of the client budget I just want to remove the minor defects and get some shine, i have the M83, M205, M26, M21, foam pads and the MF pads, using the EVO 21 or the Meguiars polishers.

          In that case what you're doing is ok, unless you want to buy more products.
          Are you happy with the finish after M83 and MF pads?

          If you want to refine it more, you could apply M205 on a foam polishing pad after M83 and before your wax.

          If you wanted to add an extra step again, after M205, you could apply a sealant (M21) followed by wax (M26).

            Are you in Columbia, SC?

            Anyway, what I would recommend is you first try and get results using the least-aggressive, which is your #205... and put it on a finishing pad, but if like me it will not do much but make the pain shiny.

            When that fails to remove the swirls (and it probably will), step up to a polishing pad and #205 (SMAT)... This might work well!


            If this does NOT work well, step up to #83, but keep in mind you are working with Diminishing Abrasivs (DAT) vs the new SMAT, which means #83 cuts the most when it is first applied and does NOT cut as long as a newer SMAT product. The difference is SMAT stuff tends to finish out nicer and once you remove the defect you can wipe it off where with a DAT product like #83 you are advised to work the product completely until it is fully broken down...

            Otherwise you are likely to leave the surface a bit more hazy.

            Some cars finish out great with #83, but years ago I used to typically follow up with #80 speed glaze. For all intents and purpose your #205 is the replacement for #80 only better in every way (aside from not having much of a glaze in it)...


            1. Do NOT expect #205 to remove the swirls, but try anyway.
            2. Expect #83 to remove the swirls but leave a slight haze (that is easily removed with #205)

                Do they have anything newer/stronger than #83 just in-case that doesn't work well enough? (It probably will)


                i.e. Can you get Scratch X 2.0 (a slight step up from #83) or Ultimate Compound or #105


                At any rate, I would avoid #84 and #85 as they are NOT Dual Action Polisher friendly... you really need a rotary to properly use those. If you DO use a Rotary, rumor has it the new Solo Cut #86 is awesome... It is somewhere between #105 and #205

                  You may find it beneficial to keep a good cleaner/wax on hand for lower budget details.
