  • Gallon equiv to Quik Detailer ?

Up until now, I've been buying just the consumer quik detailer every time I clay a car, and i've also been using it as a quik detailer on light dust. It's been working great, and I love the smell !!! which is why I've been reluctant to move away from it.. But its starting to get expensive, and it can leave a little haze.

What Meguiars gallon size equiv is there to Quik detailer ?

    Is it D114?

I'd like something I can use as a clay lube AND a quick detailer.

If I need to buy separate then I will.

    I've read up on D115, M135, D155 and D156.

Water isn't an issue where I'm at. So not really looking for a waterless wash, just a quick detailer, to remove the dust, that the california duster doesn't and perhaps light brake dust. D115 sounds perfect at 1:4 as a QD for me but it apparently doesn't work well as a clay lube.

M34 is a nice QD. It's body shop safe. It leaves nothing behind. This can streak in the hot sun.

If you are looking for something more cost effective then consider D155. It can be used as QD and diluted to be used as a clay lube. It can streak when using it sun light or of the surface is hot.

M135 is the bulk version of ultimate quik detailer and is not recommended for clay lube due to the polymers within the formula. They make it to slick for the clay to do it's job.

D156 is the bulk version of ultimate quik wax. Perfect compliment for all Meguiar's waxes and sealants. Should be in everyone's arsenal. Can be used in sun light.

D114 is a rinseless wash that leaves nothing behind. Really great stuff and very versatile. Can be used as clay lube as well.

D115 is a rinseless wash that leaves a protective polymer behind.

With D114 and D115 you can save the left over in your bucket if it is clean and use in a spray bottle as a waterless wash.

Re: Gallon equiv to Quik Detailer ?

Thanks, but M34 doesn't seem to provide any benefits bang for buck. I can get the 32oz Quik Detailer for $8.47 from my local Walmart. So for 128oz i'm looking at $35 inc tax And that includes the sprayer.

M34 seems to be around that price online.

Other than D155 (which can streak if hot and its hot hot hot, where I'm at !! ) are there any other cost effective options ?

Hate to say this but Chem Guys do a gal Clay luber for $15 delivered.. Maybe i'll get that 'just' as my clay luber... Then I won't need to worry about my QD doubling up as a clay luber, which i seem to use a good 16oz per car clayed

Here's my question to you. How long does that 32 oz bottle last you? You can buy the bottle of M34 and give it a shot. I've seen M34 at O'Reilly's.

Invest in some M135 and then use the regular quik detailer for clay lube when you are going to clay. I have never had M135 streak on me out here in sunny so cal.

You can even pick up a sample bottle of D155 here to try it out. Why not use QD in the shade or indoors. No need to worry about streaks.

Be wary of CG. They have been known to have some of the worst customer service.

Get yourself some D114. It can be used in so many ways.
1/4 ounce in a 32oz. spray bottle makes your perfect clay lube.
That same bottle can do waterless wash on a waxed vehicle.
Use that same bottle, or dillute it even less to 1:256 in a spray bottle for quik detailer. Personaly I use it at 1:128 for all of the above.

            Rinseless wash.
It's also 1 heck of a quik interior detailer.. It doesn't interfere or leave anything behind. It even smells great! You'll love this stuff.

If you're after something cost effective, I'd say get D155. It does everything you've asked for.

Just don't use it in the sun?
