removing decals????

hello guys, we bought a new ford expedition and i was wondering, how do you remove the decals in the interior that say warning and all the airbag stuff????

they seem to be pretty sticky and i dont want to harm the cloth

Hey,

Are you talking about the warning labels on the sunvisors? If so, I do not think they can be removed without doing a fair amount of damage to the material. I will check around and see what others are doing about the labels.

Hey,

I was afraid it was the visor labels. On my vehicle the labels appear to be pressed or permenantly attached to the material. As such, the only way to remove them would be to replace the visor material. Like I said, I will ask around and see if anyone has successfully removed them without damaging the material.

speaking of decals.... what about the decals from the dealership of the white lettering variety? I don't want to support the slimy jerks that originally sold the truck to by B-I-L. It can't be too hard because I've never seen multiple dealerships on any car.

Spray a 1:1 solution of Isopropyl alcohol/ distilled water on decals
Gently lift an edge with a plastic spatula/ plastic razor blade, slide dental floss / fishing line to the back of the decal and ease free
Clean area with IPA and reapply protection

Not sure of the dealer sticker you are refering to; but I had the plastic stick on with the double sided tape.

Cheap option:

Spray liberally with WD-40, try to pick off a cornor and while peeling the decal off, spray the sticky side with WD. When decal is off, spray WD on the paint and rub with a terry cloth towel to get the excess glue off. Wash and Wax when done

More costly option: (Still reasonably cheap) do the same thing but use Goop-off instead of WD-40.

It also helps to park the sticker in the sun for a couple of hours, it will heat the glue and make it easier for you to take it off.
