  • #7 over LSP

I have a bottle of #7 that is giving me dirty looks, so i decided to put it on the black of my truck.

Does it have to be applied to freshly cleaned paint, or can it go over a sealant and or wax, then top it again ?

I usually recommend polish before waxing, but if the finish has been kept clean with no contamination to speak of, then I don't see why you couldn't use #7 over a wax or sealer.

Just be sure to top #7 with a wax or sealer.

I heard of some guys in this area that don't use anything but #7.

Thanks for the reply. I havent used #7, except to play around with it.

The surface is perfect, with several coats of this and that on it, i just wanted to know if it would be better to strip everything down or can it be applyed right over whats on there, then topped?

If you wash the car, or clean the car with a quick detailer, you can apply M07 onto the paint and whatever is there right now. Make sure you use a thin coat, worked over the surface evenly, then wipe it off with your softest, fluffiest microfiber or cotton towel.

This is a great question. #7 was the first polish I used. I topped that with NXT. It was recommended by some friends at work. One of my buds said that #7 was all he used for protection. No wax in other words.

From what I understand about the product, it is very versatile. #7 does great after clay/cleaner/polish (#83, #80) and topped with your choice of LSP. I have read on the net that #7 can be applied as needed over the LSP if you so choose. Since #7 is a pure polish you can apply without worrying about removing the LSP. #7 comes in handy for car show folks who have garage queens that don't see the harsh elements. #7 is applied right before a show to give some extra POP to the finish. Not much protection or durability should be expected from this method of application though.

As you can see #7 has many uses so have fun and good luck.

              wash/clay/#80/#7/nxt/#7
that last coat of #7 just to make it look extra nice when the customer picks up there car?
when #7 wears off the they will still have the protection of nxt right?

You could do that, but if it were me, I would opt for a second coat of wax if you're doing this for money.

I would, two think coats of any companies wax will always insure a uniform appearance and uniform protection.
