  • Installing body graffics

Well Im gettin more graffics, soon to arrive next week. In the past Ive just clayed the surface to prep. But that was before I really knew about layering, now I got several coats of just about everything, cleaner, polish, polish, sealant, NXT and more NXT.

So I wanna know should I remove all of this? What should I use? Vinagar? Is this really necissary? Some of the graffics are going to be very small and will probably need all the stiction they can get. Any suggestions?

Is there any way I can use my gif as a signature? Or am I missin it?

I'm no expert on this matter, but, if it were me, I would clean the wax off of the paint with a dedicated paint cleaner, such as Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner or Medallion Premium Paint Cleaner (MPPC).

I would then wipe the area with a little alcohol & water mixture before applying the graffics...Or is it graphics? (Just curious)

Better yet, leave the graphics in the box. Oh, whoops, showing my age now.

Ive got the Deep Crystal paint cleaner, that removes everything? Even the wax? Ive only used it once(on a real dirty white car) it had a chemical smell to it, kind of thinner like. Yeah I bet that would work.

I know Windex would strip it all off too, but amonia seems pretty harsh. Got any other tips?

I've heard that Dawn dish liquid will strip wax off a car, but I don't know what strength to use.

Meguiars makes a product called APC+ (All Purpose Cleaner Plus) that claims to dewax paint when diluted at 64 to 1.

Mike Phillips says this is a very good product to have around the house, as well as using it for heavy duty jobs such as motor cleaning, and for lighter jobs like cleaning carpet & others...It all depends on how it's diluted.

I found a dusty gallon jug of it for about $13.00 at one of the local auto paint stores in town, or you might find it on the web after doing a Google search.

If you order it from Meguiars, you will have to buy 4 Gallons!

Edit: All of Meguiar's dedicated paint cleaners should clean off all wax residue...One way you can tell is buy rubbing a clean terry towel over the just cleaned area and listen for it to make a squeeky sound. I've noticed this myself when I was in the process of removing a cleaner...Or a polish.

when we install graphics we use 50 % isoproprihil alcohol and 50% water for removing anything but the clearcoat it work extremely well ...Bill
