  • Scotchguard Clear Paint Protection Film - Dealer installed; 2 part question

Hi Guys - I apologize from the start if this has been addressed - I search several parts of the forum and didn't really see a comprehensible answer to what my question is - so here goes.

I bought a new Camry with the clear paint protection film installed by the dealer - it's also called a 'Clear Bra' - 3M says you can wash and wax it like normal - only do not use waxes with dyes.

Here is question 1. - How would you take care of this? What products would you use?

Here is the second part. The car is painted with the Toyota 'Cosmic Gray Mica' finish - from a distance it looks black and in direct sunlight on a clear day is sort of a Blueish gray with lots of metal flake.

Question 2. What would you suggest for this particualr color - I was thinking black wax - but that seems to be out of the question

Here is a picture - not my car - but at the same time it really doesn't show what this paint does in different conditions.... THANKS ALL!

My suggestion would be to pick a wax you like to use and for me it's Ultimate Liquid Wax. Much like the paint on your car, the less you touch it the better when it comes to your clear bra. Use a quality wash such as Gold Class and use proper two bucket techniques to wash. Drying the car I prefer to use a leaf blower to avoid touching the bra. Then wax the car and bra using a soft foam applicator. Buff off the wax gently using a quality microfiber towel.

One of the important things with the clear bra is avoid getting product "stuck" on the edge of the film. And avoid rubbing across or along the edge of the film. You want that edge to remain as pristine as possible for the life of the bra so that the edge remains "hidden" as much as possible. Or it becomes increasing visible and detracts from the look.

I've found bugs and rocks do more damage to the bra then I have, but I still use caution when cleaning or waxing. I like using Ultimate Wash and Wax Anywhere to clean off bugs. Again, be gentle.

I have tried a couple of other products, but I haven't read where someone has said. "This product is amazing for my clear bra".
