M21 is not beading after one week?

How long should M21 bead for? After only one week my hood looks like there is no beading taking place. The rest of the car still beads. I applied the M21 to a clean paintjob that I cleaned with Sonax paint cleaner. How can I be sure the paint on the hood is still protected?

You should have more beading than that. How's the sheeting on the hood? How was the beading after you washed the area? I have used M21 a few times and sometimes I get good beading and sometimes I get better sheeting with decent beading. You could add another coat as well just on the hood.

I've never had good beading from M21 but that's because the water sheeting abilities it has are so good. The water just runs off the panel and doesn't sit up in a traditional beading pattern.

IMO sheeting the water off a panel serves to protect the paint from unwanted water spots and helps the paint to 'look' cleaner for longer.

If it's just after a wash that you notice this, it could be the soap you're using, the chemical make up might 'discourage' beading and lend more to sheeting. My car acts kind of the same way and I have UPW on it and I'm using Deep Crystal wash soap. When I run out of that, I'm going to switch to Ultimate Wash & Wax to see if the beading/sheeting changes after a wash.

You can check if your paint is still protected by wax by using a quick detailer. If the quick detailer becomes harder to remove from paint, chances are your wax is gone (not just with the water beading). If the QD removes quite easily regardless of whether or not you get water beading, there's a good chance your wax protection is going strong.
