So I'm new to detailing, and I've been using Meguiar's Ultimate Wax in the liquid form on my black car. Will I notice a difference over the Ultimate Wax if I use that black wax in a tube, or a paste wax?

Re: Newb Here. Paste Or Liquid Wax?
Ultimate paste wax and ultimate liquid wax are identical. The difference is the the liquid version will not stain trim. Ultimate wax is synthetic and also longer lasting. Black wax is a cleaner wax that is carnauba based. It offers more polishing oils versus white wax which offers more correction. M26 could be considered a hybrid wax (synthetic and carnauba based) and you are looking at the typical durability of 1-3 months. Gives a great look on dark cars. Gold Class is also carnauba based.
One thing that is usually done is called topping. That is having the synthetic as the base and then topping it with a coat of carnauba. This gives you the look of a carnauba but the protection of a synthetic. The carnauba will be the sacrificial layer.
Ultimate Wax/M26 is a killer combo. You may want to try that.

Re: Newb Here. Paste Or Liquid Wax?
Black wax+finishing wax (like ultimate) will work well, BW has enough cleaners to remove very light scratches/spider webbing, the polishing oils are enough to add depth and to a certain degree, fill in scratches, and can itself offer enough protection. Putting a finishing wax on top of it will add even more shine and protection. If you want to get real silly, you can even add M26 on top of Ultimate and Black Wax.

Yes you can. Just not the other way because black wax will remove UW.
