Polish before each wax

Should I polish before each wax, my truck is a garage queen. I love to polish an wax looking for that altuim shine. So my question is. Is there to much waxing? I also use the quick wax before I go out with the truck. She looks great, thanks for all your help, I have been reading some very good post.

Polish it what gives it the shine. So I say yes!

What will be used to polish?
M205 is a polish but will also remove a small amount of CC.
M7 is a pure polish with no abrasives.

Please define polish.

If it's a garage queen odds are it's stays looking pretty much flawless at all times.. But if you love polishing & waxing your truck, why should you be denied the right to do so.. I think you'd be ok as long as you stick with Ultimate Polish on a finishing pad.
Mirror Glaze Show Car Glaze would be even better suited for frequent polishing of your garage kept truck.

I used a combo of 105/205 I really liked the 205 polish, with a da it went on nice and came off even better. So now on to the waxing I got gold class carnauba plus liquid with black pad. Should I put 2coats on?

Do you clay? What color is your car?

I have a 10 years old well-maintained silver car and I found that there is no need to polish the car everytime I wax. Clay for me is more beneficial for the end result.

As for for concern of too much wax, I do the full 5-step ritual once or twice a year. The clay and clean steps would remove all wax in the car so I can start over. For the rest of the year, I just wash and wax (alternating between Cleaner Wax and Ultimate Liquid Wax).

My 02 Camaro is my garage queen and I polish it once a year with M205. Yes it does remove some clear coat but it is so minimal that you would be ok for a long time. You could always use ultimate polish since it has a little less cut. You should not need to compound all the time. M205 would be sufficient. As someone stated you can use it on a finishing pad for less correction. It's a great product and very versatile.

You will be fine with one coat. A second coat is only recommended to ensure even coverage.

Even with a "garage queen", the "things" that make your paint pop eventually fade. Basically, polishing before each wax restores those oils (the "things" I mentioned") to your paint. The wax, while adding to the shine, merely adds. Sure, an unwaxed vehicle will look duller than an waxed vehicle (that was not polished). However, a waxed vehicle that has been polished will almost always outshine the waxed vehicle that was not polished beforehand. The point I'm driving at here is that with most waxes, especially synthetics, what you're doing is sealing and protecting your clay-barring, compounding, polishing, and prep-work in general. Again, don't get me wrong, I'm not contending that waxes do nothing for the shine. But you're getting ALOT more bang for your buck if you do some prep work.

Is there too much waxing? I mean, most people say know, but lets be real here. If you're waxing daily (don't laugh, I know people that do,) you've GOT to be do something to your clear coat/paint job. You're creating friction, friction wears away at things. Granted clear coats and even one-stage paint jobs are pretty resilient, but after awhile it might do some harm. I'm talking days upon days. However, even if you detail more often than the average person like I do (maintenance [wash, quick, or Quik, detailer/wax] once a week, quasi- full detail once a month ["strip wash", i.e. using a clear coat-safe soap that strips wax, no claybar or compound, polish, and wax, full detail every two-three months [same as my quasi-full detail, with the addition of clay bar and compound]; Obviously I do "as needed" maintenance as well) Point is, I detail A LOT, and I can almost guarantee that my clear coat (3 years old, this month, same detailing routine for all three years) has never shown any sign of wear. In fact, I'm sure it's in better shape than the a similarly-aged vehicle's clear coat that has never been detailed. Very, very, long story short, no , realistically, there is not too much waxing.
