Dont get me wrong i love the way this stuff brings out the shine but i am just finally tired of having to work my *** off to get it back off of the vehicle. When you have to rub it so hard to remove it that it deforms the panel something is going on. A few years ago when i first started using this stuff with my DA polisher i didnt have any problems. But now no matter what i do i have to bust my *** to get it off. Last week i said to hell with it and bought all new pads and another brand new bottle of M105 thinking maybe the 105 went bad or my pads were worn out or otherwise causing a problem. Nope same exact results. I even put a window ac in my houses attached garage to polish vehicles in thinking my big shop was getting to hot for it and baking it on or something. (tried using the stuff at differing temps 65, 70, 75, 80 and 85 none of which mattered). For equipment i am using the megs DA polisher and soft buff 2.0 yellow pads. I have tried the DA at differing speeds from 2-5 (generally run it between 3 and 4) I dont know what else to do other than switching back to 3M products, hate to because i dont think they result in the same results in the end but at least my arms dont feel like i just spent the day on a chain gang bustin rocks with a sledge when i am done buffing out a vehicle.

Re: So i launched my M105 across the shop today.
M105 has a short work time. To extend it a little bit more add a spritz of detail spray and use it for a few passes. When you over work it or use too much it becomes like concrete and a pain to remove. Even though it has a short work time, M105 corrects rather quickly. You just have to get the technique down with it. If you are looking for a compound that has a longer work time you can go with ultimate compound as it is derived from M!05. You also have the option of going with M101, a 50/50 mix of UC and M105 or even D300. There are a few other compounds as well.
When I use M105 I fully prime the pad and work in M105 into the foam pad with my fingers. Kevin Brown refers to this as seasoning the pd. I then add 3-4 pea sized drops. Then I work the area with 3-4 passes depending on the temperature. I sometimes use a spritz of QD to remove it from the panel or I spritz QD on the pad and go over the area quickly to make the removal easier. Remember like remove like.
I have since moved onto either D300 and the DAMF cutting pads or M101 and foam. I also have some UC around as well.

I used M105 yesterday and had the same experience. I finally sprayed water on the pad before adding more M105. This allowed a longer work time plus cut down on dusting. When I had trouble removing M105 , I sprayed water in the spot . Off it goes.
Guz what is the proper method of using M105? I was thinking 2 passes at speed 6, 2 passes speed 3 No pressure , 2 passes speed 5 no pressure on a pc 7424xp.
Is this too many passes?Extreme Radiance Detailing

Re: So i launched my M105 across the shop today.
With a PC 7424XP I do 3-4 passes on speed 5 with moderate pressure. I repeat until I am happy with the results. I clean my pad often and will use QD to either help in remove it or to extend the working time.

I had the same thing happen, but I was using it in a hot panel in the sun... It's actually still on the car, with wax over it. I was using a Rupes blue microfiber cutting disc. It was fine on panels that were out of the sun.
On a side note, my car is a test bed for me. It's repaint is trashed, and it's "sticky". I actually burned through the color coat as well the day I baked my 105 on.
The only thing that makes me want to hurl my bottles, is when they bubble over after I disperse them on the pad, and set the bottle down. THAT bugs me.

Re: So i launched my M105 across the shop today.
The process shown in the video where the pad is fully primed and then just a small amount of M105 added for each pass is a great solution to those times when M105 becomes a bit problematic. The key part of that process is the minimal use of M105. As has been stated, M105 can have a pretty short buffing cycle depending on ambient conditions and how dried out or porous the paint is. That said, you can often buff an area and then, without wiping off any residue and without adding any more M105, mist a bit of water from a spray bottle onto the area and continue buffing. This will sort of rejuvenate the product and allow you to continue cutting. Remember, the abrasives in M105 don't break down so you still continue to cut when doing this.
M100 is often a great alternative to M105 if you find yourself repeatedly encountering this issue. M100 still provides plenty of cut but it also offers a much longer buffing cycle and is usually extremely easy to wipe off. With microfiber pads it will dust a bit (less than M105 and much less than M101 when used this way) and cut like crazy while leaving a very nice finish. On really hard paint it's pretty fantastic stuff.Michael Stoops

Dang-it. I just bought a new bottle of M105. Guess I'll be getting some M100 next.
I did use M105 over the weekend and it finished really well on oxidized paint using a orange LC pad. I couldnt get the cut I needed using D151 but M105 made quick work.Extreme Radiance Detailing

Re: So i launched my M105 across the shop today.
From everything I have collectively read, M101 with a DA (7424XP) is supposed to be better(cut, etc.) than M105 or M100 with a foam pad.
I don't know, maybe I read wrong??!!
I don't have to work it very long for great results. Then again my car doesn't have a solar system of swirls.
I haven't had any problems with it and love the stuff.
M101s scent isn't one of my favorites. It reminds me of my dad cleaning paint brushes with mystery solvents.
