  • M105 and pads

Hi I have some visible scratches and swirl marks on my black bmw. I tried using the Ultimate compound but it didn't work. If I get the m105 and m205 is it okay if I use burgundy foam pad with the m105 with my hand first than if it doesnt work use the da polisher?

Just a quick question: is it a non-metallic jet black ? On that paint you may be inflicting a micro-marring, it's sensitive.

Okay, that's better. In most cases D/A polisher, Ultimate Compound and yellow polishing pad will remove most paint defects (except deeper scratches). If you work on a really small area (like 2'x2' or even smaller), perform about 6 passes per section with moderate down pressure on high speed (setting 5 on Meguaiar's G110) then the final results should be pretty good. If however Ultimate Compound cuts too slowly, your next step could be M105/yellow polishing pad or D300/5" microfiber cutting disc (DA Microfiber Correction System).

So I can use yellow pads with both m105 and m205?

Sure. However after M105/polishing pad you could also follow up with M205/finishing pad for maximum gloss. M205/polishing pad would give you small defect removal ability, like micro-marring or minor swirls.

Thanks for the help. I will upload before and after pictures in about a week.

Yeah super sensative! I detailed one last week and it polished out great with M105 and a MF cutting disc and then I went on to a yellow pad with M205 and got more DA haze than I've ever seen. Switched it to a black pad and it worked fine, but had never seen that happen so badly. Good thing its the metallic version, that stuff is much easier to work with and looks way better IMO

I used M105 with the yellow 2.0 pad on our Black Mercedes c class and had great results. Slow steady movements produced great results on some very delicate paint. Hope you are able to achieve the results you are hoping for.
