Protecting new headlights?

Hey all, so my brother decided to purchase a pair of new headlights for his Jeep. He paid $80... When he told me how much he paid I said ~ My goodness! I would've polished your whole Jeep, restored that faded trim, and took a better than decent stab at restoring your old headlights... *sigh*

Anyways... I will admit they look pretty sweet brand new. What's the best way to keep them new? 1st thought that came to mind was Ultimate Quik Wax/D156. What do you guys think would be ideal protection to keep em new?

Any type of sealant would be good. D156 is fine as well. Headlight protectant is also available. If you are looking for something more permanent look into installing some x-pel material on them. That is what I have on my headlights and it's been a few years and they still look great.

Agreed with guz. I just say stick with the headlight protectant tho since that's all I've ever used.

Like Megs G17110? Is this product unique and all it's own? Or derived from another in the Meguiars line?

I've always just polished/waxed the headlights when I do the car, so I've never had the issues that many others have had. I usually use a light AIO (Klasse) and whatever sealant I'm using at the time (Klasse SG topped by Megs UQW).

Haadlight protectant is it's own dedicated product in the consumer line. I have seen it at walmart.

Although I don't mind sealing my headlights occasionally, I went for more longevity with Opti-Lens on my cars and customer cars as well. New headlights may need a quick polish, more weathered may need a little more work. The lights have to clear before applying since Opti-Lens won't fill scratches well if it all. I'll give my cars a week just to make sure its cured, some give a month, then Ultimate Wax or M21 on a regular basis. Yes, Opti-Lens is expensive but one syringe can do around 8 or more sets depending on the initial thickness and if you layer. $10 or less a set plus less maintenance is worth it for me.

X2, just keep them waxed and you won't have any problems, I wax monthly so mine still look new

I would also be interested to know, if the headlight protectant is significantly better/different than e.g. ULW (which I have, but local stores only have the protectant in the largest restoration kit).
