I am doing my dad's truck tomorrow morning and need to be done by 12:00. It's washed and tomorrow I am doing the paint cleaner, polish, and carnuba. Not sure if I will have time to apply the sealant (M20), which I would normally do after the polish. If I don't have time tomorrow, can I apply the sealant another day and have it be the last coat? I figure since it isn't a polish and isn't removing anything, it would kind of seal everything up. Thoughts?

Applying Sealant Last?

Re: Applying Sealant Last?
If you are planning to use M20 you could use it by itself. It's a cleaner sealant. M20 will remove the polish and carnauba with it's cleaning property. M20 has the potential to last between 4-6 months. If you are looking for a sealant you could use ultimate wax or NXT. Ultimate wax is the longer lasting of the two. You could then apply it in place of the carnauba if you plan to use those individual products.

One thing I forgot to mention is that a sealant is applied first and then followed by a carnauba.

Re: Applying Sealant Last?
M20, as has been noted, is a cleaner wax/sealant (wax and sealant do the same thing, by the way, so you don't need to use both). As such, if you apply it over a carnauba wax it will strip most of that wax off. If you apply it over a polish, it will strip off quite a bit of the polishing oils as well. If you apply a cleaner polish, like Ultimate Polish, on top of a very fresh application of M20 the polymers in that fresh application of M20 will slow down the cutting action of UP.
M20 is almost better used as a dedicated last step product - in fact, it's often used as a one step cleaner wax. We're assuming that you've finished the truck with carnauba wax yesterday and have not yet applied a sealant, based on your timeline in the initial post here and the ensuing discussion. If that's the case, we would suggest you either just leave it as is with the carnauba as the last step (absolutely nothing wrong with that) or wait a bit and apply a non cleaning synthetic sealant like M21, NXT Tech Wax 2.0 or Ultimate Wax.Michael Stoops

Re: Applying Sealant Last?
Its not really messing things up... there are cleaner/wax products in the pro and consumer lines. Its using the cleaner/wax type of product at the end of the detail that is the issue, as it just removes your previous work.
With what you have, you would want to:
1. Wash
2. UP
3. Glaze (This would be pretty optional, but can try if you feel like it, see if it looks any different on a panel after.)
4. Wax - High Tech Yellow
5. Wax - High tech yellow - 2 thin coats will be best.
1. Wash
2. #20
3. Wax - hi Tech yellow (Optional)
