  • Detailing causing OCD!!

OK so I have recently gotten much more serious about detailing although Im still jus a weekend warrior I have spent lots of time lately correcting paint on the wifes car as well as other family members cars, love you instant gratification(well after about 6-7hrs of work). I used to just wash and wax, now I have the DA and all the goodies to pretty much correct anything and I enjoying it very much. Only problem I have ran into now is I inspect every cars paint I see!!!! On my way home from work I see "clean" cars then when they pass me and the sun hits them they are full of swirl marks, and it kills me I want to stop them and be like hey you gotta get those out of your paint heres what you do....... Its turned into a problem everywhere I go Im pointing out flaws on these cars....tried to explain it to my wife she looked at me like I was nuts!. Maybe I missed my calling

I here yea there. When we got our Mazda it was full of swirls and RIDS. I ordered the DA Microfiber System then and there I couldn't stop and had to get every swirl and scratch out of the paint and it did a great job. from there on its never been the same LOL I don't think I will be able to recover LOL

Here is our Mazda if you haven't seen it yet http://www.meguiarsonline.com/forums...int-Correction

      It'll fade

I feel the same way sometimes; however, the OCD is starting to fade. Give it time, you'll calm down. Haha.
I used to finish drywall and I would always notice cracks and holes in every house I went in.

I stop all the time too. Went out to eat with the family one night and a beautiful Audi R8 was sitting in front of the restaurant. Well it was beautiful till I got closer and the high pressure sodium lights highlighted every single defect. I did a quick walk around and thought it ain't so beautiful anymore. I said out loud "Who details this thing? If you can afford this car, you can afford a real detailer." Glad the owner wasn't there but I was tempted to find him and let him know I'd help if he wanted to make her pretty again. The wife told me to shut up and stop worrying about somebody else's car.

One of my neighbors has a new Porsche Panamera Hybrid. When I talked to him about getting some protection on it he said he'd just wait till spring and probably clay it since he wasn't familiar with the winters down south. My heart dropped. The paint is flawless now and I so wanted to educate him but I let it go. I did offer help when he was ready if he was interested.

Detailing doesn't cause OCD, it just brings out what's already there and magnifies it.

Good, its not just me. I was at an event last weekend nice sunny day. This guy has a 2014 Corvette Stingray right.. Fire Red in color. Like my dream car. The paint was littered with swirls. Dirty rims/tires. I'm like OMG are you serious. Maybe they have so much money it just doesn't matter. If it gets messed up they trade it in? Beats me.

Give her some time to come around to your way of thinking. My wife used to have the same reaction that yours is having, but now she notices the same things I do, sometimes before I do. And then I look at her funny!!

One time, I DID polish the rental car ... I just couldn't stand how dirty it was anymore ... in my defense it was just a one-step with cleaner wax though.

Lol, this same thing started for me too a few months ago when we got a black car. Ask the guys on here what has happened to me. I am buying product online, wathcing the shipping, rushing to get home before the wife gets there so she doesn't see that I have ordered more product. Bad thing is, my 3 1/2 year old is getting into it too and he tells on me. He said, mommy, we got a green bottle now. He gave away that I ordered some D101 APC. He is just excited to see all the colors, lol. I am just ordering stuff and asking for forgiveness later. And if she gives me too much greif I just say, well, you were the one that really wanted the black he he
