  • Layering Question

I don't want to sound like a total tool but this question crossed my mind. I recently did a layer on our cars in this order: sealant, glaze, and yellow wax (all professional line). I picked up a bottle of the Ultimate Polish and I was wanting to test it out. If I put a coat on the cars, will I need to re-apply the yellow wax afterwards? I am thinking so, since it's a polish but wanted to get an opinion.

I picked up the glaze to use as a polish and wasn't aware it was very temporary.

Yes, if you went with UP it would take off your protection. It's made to be used before sealant or wax. Made with super micro diminishing abrasives, it will level the clear coat around lesser defects such as minor swirling and either reduce or eliminate them. By doing this it creates a much smoother finish and better gloss. Probably best to wait until it's time to seal/wax again, use UP to polish and remove the sealant/wax, then apply the sealant and wax. If you've already got it done there's no reason to redo it, unless you just want to. It's a great product in the consumer line. I used it on my mother's car to get rid of auto car wash swirls. Hardly a defect left and made the metallic really pop out. Quick coat of Ultimate Wax and it was beautiful again.

Forgot to add, if you use the polish then the glaze would most likely be an optional step. It's more temporary to fill swirls and maybe get a little more gloss. The UP should take care of anything the glaze does with longer lasting results. I still like to keep a little glaze around for single stage paints and some quick jobs that need to look good fast.

I would go in this step of polish, glaze, sealant wax. With a 24 hr wait in between seal and wax. The up is not likely to remove the glaze if y reverse in just those 2.
