Here we are again with winter knocking at the door.
I would like advice on which sealant to use on a DD for winter protection.
    I have these on hand.
    M21
    NXT 2.0
Collinite 476 not really a sealant but lasts a long time.
Black fire crystal paint sealant. Which begs the question. Why doesnt Meguiars have a similar product.
Correct me if I am wrong but I think BF crystal paint seal will last the longest.

    Thank you

    Re: winter sealants

The past few winters I've detailed my daily driver in late fall and applied UW liquid and topped with M16. I maintained the DD with M135 (UQD) and D156 (UQW) throughout the winter.

Our winters here are a major mess. The area uses tons of salt and various deicing chemicals. This past winter they even took to using cheese brine as a cheap way to help melt the ice. My DD literally turns white in a week. My garage is not heated and our temperatures drop well below freezing and often well below zero, so I resort to touchless washes to remove the salt and flush the underbody at least weekly. (FWIW, I negotiated a discounted bulk purchase of basic wash codes from the owner of the touchless wash.) After the wash, I'd use UQD and follow with UQW. This kept my DD protected and great looking with no paint scratches or swirls induced.

One more thing... I believe UW is an easy match to BF as far as durability and looks go.

Ultimate wax is the longest lasting wax offered by Meguiar's. M21 and NXT are closely related. I would go with either 2 coats of UW, M21/NXT or Blackfire.

        Re: winter sealants

Since UW is the longest lasting wax, this is what I would use this winter.

To the OP, is there an automatic car wash nearby? If so, get a car wash on a nice day and apply UQW when you get home.

Not much more we can add to this, except to say UQW is a surprisingly durable spray wax and the perfect quick boost during winter months when a full wax application may not be possible.

UQW is soo under-rated in it's ability to protect paint, I have been using it exclusively on my daily driven 2003 Mazda MPV, it looks much better than many vehicles much newer.
I have absolutely nothing else on my van, and can confirm UQW can easily boost most traditional waxes in the cold wet winter months.

I have plenty of D156 on hand. So is D156 same as UQW?

I'll defer to Mike on this, but from my experience with it, D156 it is practically identical in function and performance to UQW.

                    Re: winter sealants

I just applied a new product from CarPro. It is a sealant your spray on your car while it is wet and then rinse your car with a high-pressure spurt of water. This apparently activates the hardening process. Then just dry. Seems to work well and very easy to apply. Winter will tell how long it will last.

Last winter both my cars got BF crystal sealed, and then coated with UQW after each wash and this lasted all winter for me.

This is good to know as I have both products on hand.

I live in Chicago and I use ULW monthly. Wash weekly with UW&W, and top off with UQW. And this does an AWESOME job for me. At the beginning of the month I do wash with dawn then apply the ULW. And then for then the other 3 weeks I use the UW&W followed with the UQW. On occasion when I do the ULW ill top that with black magic liquid wax as Kim trying to use that all up. I usually use the black magic wax on family and friends car. I used black magic products before I got addicted to meguirs so I save the good stuff for my ride but its almost all gone. Hopefully soon I can start moving over to the detailer line as I like the quantity and spray bottles. Makes everything look more professional and the ease of use with the bottles. Plus the detailer line has good product like the mirror glaze. Meguiars is just a top notch operation with outstanding product.

I would go with BFCPS and then top with 476s the next day. Should be golden for the winter.

We altered the scent for D156 but otherwise, yes, they are basically the same product.
